I loved 'Breaking Bad,' though Heisenberg/Walter is among the most morally bankrupt characters I can imagine. But the whole series, from the the writing to the sets, was meticulous. I loved all of the purple that Hank's wife constantly wore and decorated with..what a hoot! And the characters were unbelievably complex. Skylar was initially a harpy but became more sympathetic as the seasons wore on. I loved Jesse.
"The Sopranos" was probably my favorite because I love the whole Joisy/Italian thing. My honey gave me a Sopranos bus tour for my birthday that left from Manhattan and drove us past the meat shop, Pizzaland etc. We lived in Philly so getting to NYC was an easy trip.
My latest favorite is "The Americans." Talk about complex and interesting characters, not to mention the moral ambiguity, which seems to be a must for truly engaging TV these days.
