Too many decades worth to sort through in my mind, but as of the last 5 years, I have considered Parenthood to be mine. Of course they are cancelling it in a few weeks. Only 3 shows left.

Years ago, I probably would have said Dallas.

Very underrated show. Craig T. Nelson was kind of disappointed that NBC wasn't backing the show like it should have with promotion /advertisement a few years back, and I gotta agree. I remembered when it started but thought it was cancelled until my girlfriend discovered it on netflix.

Great acting all the way around.

Yes, tremendous acting all the way around. What a heck of show it was. The best I think I have ever seen. I sure hope the executives that made this decision live to regret it. I for one, will never watch another NBC show again. If 5 million more people would do what I am doing, they would definitely live to regret it. But I don't expect that, people are very shallow and don't stand behind their own values or convictions anymore. They just want to be entertained. I however, will be boycotting NBC forever. I will never again watch another NBC program, because I know when the money fat executives grow bored with it, they will just cancel it anyway, so why in the hell should I waste my time on it??

Another drama I very much enjoyed that was only on briefly was "American Dreams".

The Wire
Sopranos
After that I would have to say Law and Order.

I consider shows like Dallas and such to be more soap opera than dramatic show.
MASH was a comedy.

Me too. My mom used to work a second job at a liquor store in NY that was connected to a Beauty Salon of all things ( Dad was in the Army, so he would sometimes be away). To save on a sitter, I would go into the Salon and watch Perry Mason all the time.

My wife teases me when she sees me watching some of the older shows like I Love Lucy and Leave it to Beaver...but those are shows that take me back to being a kid and hanging out with my Grandmother or parents. Hell, I used to love watching Love Boat and Fantasy Island on Saturday nights with my Grandmother. haha.

Firefly and number two is not even close. Greatest show ever even considering it's short life although some may classify it as sci-fi instead of drama. It sits in both IMHO.

LOL. Yes, those old shows are great for stirring up good ole times and precious memories. You just mentioned some really good ones there. Love Boat, I still remember the theme song. lol. Fantasy Island...man. That was such a good show. My husband still watches Leave It To Beaver sometimes. I like Beverly Hillbillies a lot. And Gilligan's Island. Hey, speaking of Love Boat, reminds of another show I hadn't thought of in years, Love American Style. It was funny.

I forgot about House. That Backstrom show that out, Fox is trying overly hard to recreate the magic of House.

Yeah, it does seem that way. I may check it out, but it's super easy to overdo the "genius jerk" trope. I thought House did it perfectly.
