I always thought an Allman Brother's song was an unusual choice for such a British-centric show.

I thought this would be a good off-season topic ..

What are your all-time favorite TV show theme songs?

My time watching TV as a child and as a teen was in the 60's and 70's.

The 60's had, imo, some of the best TV Show Theme songs e-v-e-r, in quality, edging out any other decade. The 70's had their share too.

Mission: Impossible

Hawaii 5-0

Star Trek

The Lone Ranger

The Beverly Hillbillies

Lost In Space

The Flintstones

The Jetsons

Stingray

The Rifleman

I Dream Of Genie

Green Acres

Good ones, but technically, the Lone Ranger theme is Rossini's "William Tell Overture".

Here's some trivia about Stingray:

Gerry Anderson based some his puppet characters in this series on real people including:

Troy Tempest was modeled on the facial features of American actor James Garner.
Marina was modeled on actress Brigitte Bardot and Ursula Andress.
Atlanta Shore was modeled on her voice actress Lois Maxwell.
Titan was based on a young Laurence Olivier.
Surface Agent X-2-Zero is modeled on Claude Rains but his voice is imitative of Peter Lorre.

The composer of the music for the show was Barry Gray, who did music for many other programs, including Space 1999.
