Favre makes an indirect guarantee

Posted by Mike Florio on January 13, 2010 2:25 PM ET
During his weekly Wednesday press conference, Vikings quarterback Brett Favre offered up a backhanded indication regarding his belief that the home team will prevail on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

"Honestly, I see us sitting here next week having this press conference again," Favre said, per Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "If that doesn't happen, to me it will be a shock."

In other words, "We're gonna win."

Then again, maybe Favre is having an advance press conference deja vu from all those past times he has retired and unretired.

Honestly, I feel good about our chances, but I will not be shocked if the Vikings win. That is a very good football team.

I saw that. I thought it was interesting. Very interesting...

I feel real good about this game.

This Vikings team looked like garbage at times late in the year, and their tall, slow OT's are going to struggle against Dallas' OLB's and pass-rush.

I see the defense playing well and Romo having a good game.

I see Favre sitting in front of the press next week, alright .... announcing yet another retirement.

He expects to win. But so does our team. They are a really good football team, so why would they think anything else.

I don't really think this is bulletin bored material at all. It's not like he said i guarantee we win. He just said he'd be surprised if they didn't.

I'm sure romo feels the same way about us.

"Honestly, I see us sitting here next week having this press conference again,"

He could be refering to a "retirement" press conference after the vikes get beat Sunday.....:D

For some reason, (maybe because I'm a stupid Cowboy fan), but I have no worries about beating the Vikings. None at all...

I was very worried about the eagles until the game actually was over...but this time? Not a worry at all!

:starspin

I wouldn't expect him to say anything different. He has a good team and he is the leader.

Yeah even if they did win, they'd choke it up next week. So we'll see who is LAUGHING in the end bandwagon Vikings fans. I know many of them are reading this board right now. Hey Brett time to hang up the cleats bud.

Sadly the bold will fall on death ears for some.

Brees said similar comments before we beat the Saints, and the Saints > Minnesotta. Bret Farve has always had cocky-ness to go along with his losing post-season record.

I expect him to be confident like that. I also expect him to throw 2 costly picks against us on Sunday.

Well, in all fairness, dead ears do tend to be deaf as well. :laugh2:
