Thanks, just wondering how this one was stacking up. I used to be on DMN long back and remember the Q threads then. I imagine it was more fun here.

No idea on Q threads, even though our own get started because he still has genius followers.

Just yesterday, the Vela thread on Ellis was over 400 posts. Before that there was the thread on PacMan's suspension, which somehow turned into a discussion on what habeus corpus means, that was over 500 before it got locked.

Before that, there was a thread about not picking a WR in the first that went 600, but I can't even tell you what that was really about.

And of course the gameday threads are 1000-2000 posts long.

For all those claiming a higher percentage of people are smoking weed- prove it. Show some research or something that says more are smoking weed then I guessed at. I will try and be polite about those idiots claiming a significant percentage of people smoke it.
First- where would 100 million people get so much weed? Using that figure as a starting point. You would have to be able to buy it on almost every street corner in America. can you?

What do you mean by your "statistic" that 10% of people smoke pot, and less than 1% are serious pot-heads? What extent is "smoking pot", and what extent is "serious pot-head."?

Interesting speculations based on very limited surveys. However, even here- if you look in the small print- they were saying only 2.1 million new users per year. At that rate it would take 48 years to reach 100 million. And I seriously doubt that 50% of all 12th graders have used pot. AT least NOT nationwide. In the inner cities, and some other places- maybe.

One other thing: 6% use it daily? really hard to believe. A lot of people are very skeptical of these stats from the government- they think the people there are cooking stats in order to increase funding. I would like to see some stats from some NON government sources WITHOUT a reason to want the stats to be so high.

Who on this thread claimed any percentage of people smoked pot? I can only find one person... three guesses as to who that was. And you said...

I didn't say a majority, but it wouldn't surprise me that large numbers do in fact indulge in that particular habit. It's not about condoning the behavior, I just don't think it makes Vick's turdism stand out that much more than any other player who likes to do it.

WG left herself an out. She said "large numbers," which could be defined in any number of ways. Hell a third of the population over 12, which you provided. And it's probably even higher when you narrow the age range to the ages of NFL players. Check males age 20-40. I betcha that number is even higher.

No one ever said "most of the US population," it was just a large number of NFL players, which, if I read WG correctly, is what she was referring to.
