Federal Search Warrant Executed on Vick House

I'd say this adds fuel to the fire for those critics who have wondered aloud why Poindexter seems to be dragging his feet on the Vick investigation...

I'm thinking this might be a good time to put the Draconian Vigilante Squad on full alert...

We're at Defcon 1!

I wonder if you could rebury a dog carcass and be able to tell its been moved?
If so it would not work- but remember all a sneaky defense attorney needs is reasonable doubt in a gullible jury's mind.....

Search carried out at Vick Surry Co. home
03:55 PM EDT on Thursday, June 7, 2007
Reported by: Patrick Terpstra

A new search is underway at the Surry home of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, and it's apparently a surprise to local investigators.

A source close to the ongoing dogfighting investigation there says the US Department of Agriculture Office office of the Inspector General has a warrant to search the property.

The warrant is from the U.S. Magistrate's office in Richmond and was issued earlier Thursday.

Local authorities are not involved in the search, says the source.

Right now federal authorities are apparently the only ones on the scene.

The officials are reportedly searching for dog carcasses, dogfighting equipment and blood stains.

Well, if they ever figure out who stole everything a couple days earlier, maybe they can search that location to find the dogs. Unbelievable to me. I thought home cooking like this only happened in New Mexico.

I am no attorney, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express once.

So, ipso facto decorum, I would say, from long experience with judicial types on TV, I would say that once the federal boys get involved, they do so because they have enough probable cause and evidence.

The fact that the local yokels are not in on the search (or seemingly the investigation itself) tells me that the feds are gonna build their case without local input. These feds don't just launch fishing expeditions.

Somewhere, Shaub must be smiling.

That's what I was thinking.

They wouldn't get involved unless they thought they could get him.

I pray they do.

Let me go try and I will get back to you in a few hours, OK?

My neighbors dog died two years ago and I know where he buried it. I'll go dig it up and plant it in my back yard to see if it's possible.

:laugh2:

First of all, if you thought that you could rebury a dead dog (which you cannot), what about all the "fresh dirt graves" that the feds would find?

Put the bottle down, and get something to eat!

Exactly...call in DR Michael Baden from HBO fame.

He'll solve the case.

Probably true that there is no way to get away with it. BUT if it was bare ground without grass cover.... probably not. BUT how much you want to bet that a defense attorney would still try?

The only person that I know that could get away with reburying a dog is Chuck Norris!

And, if the dead dog saw Chuck Norris? The dog would rebury itself!

:laugh2:

put the bottle down, burmafrd...

Yeah he will. That guy is freaky because of all he knows. Saw once where he solved a murder because of how much potatos had been broken down in the stomach. Knowing that rate and the type of cut on the fries, he placed the gal at a local restaurant and they ended up solving the case cause of who she was seen with at the restaurant.

eds targeting Vick in dogfighting investigation

By STEVE WYCHE
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Published on: 06/07/07

Federal authorities have taken control of the dogfighting investigation at a Virginia property owned by Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and the state prosecutor said it is likely that Vick has been targeted for charges.

"Michael Vick, is he the target? Who else would be?," asked Commonwealth attorney Gerald Poindexter, who is no longer in charge of the prosecution unless that state also decides to continue pursuing the investigation. "I never imagined such interest.

"Obviously if the feds come in, the jurisdictional basis is some sort of interstate violation. We don't know what it is — the training of dogs, gambling racketeering, whatever they want to call it."

Poindexter said federal charges could result in more severe punishment than the maximum five years in prison in the state of Virginia.

U.S. Department of Agriculture agent James P. Knorr, who has been involved with the investigation for weeks, contacted Poindexter around 3:15 p.m. Thursday and told him that federal agents and state police were at Vick's property. He notified Poindexter that officers were going to execute a search of the Surry County premises at 1915 Moonlight Road on the grounds of a "sealed" search warrant issued by federal authorities.

U.S. Attorney Chuck Rosenberg, of the Eastern District of Virginia, who would have executed the warrant. He declined comment through a spokesman.

Vick, who has denied any involvement shortly after police searched the property April 26, did not speak to media members at the team's Flowery Branch headquarters following a morning workout. His attorney, Lawrence Woodward, has declined comment.

From aerial footage shot by Virginia television station WAVY, at least seven vehicles are on the premises. Officers could be seen walking on the grounds behind the house, were several buildings and sheds, that are painted black, stand.

Poindexter and sheriff Harold Brown refused to execute a warrant last week based on information from a police informant to search for up to 30 dog carcasses buried on the property.

Can you believe this idiot? He never imagined such interest? And he acts like he isn't sure why the Feds would be involved?
