We are not questioning Barbers talent. We are questioning his longevity and the 40-60 million he wants. That kind of contract will hurt this team in the long run.

He's not going to get 40-60, this has been discussed to death already. He deserves to make 1-3 mil more than what Turner signed for, and will probably sign for something in that range.

Longevity isn't an issue, he has shared the load and will continue to do so. He also hasn't missed much, if any time. People are just dreaming up a reason to cut the guy loose. He's young and capable, barely into the prime years of his career.

For someone to come out and say they have been watching Felix and Choice (in college, I assume) and have "no doubt" they could replace Barber is very premature at this point.

That first run is the first impressive highlight I think I've seen from all these videos floating around. About time there was something that showed him making people miss a little.

Is it any less premature to assume Barber will not hold out for 40-60 or longevity will not be an issue?

Don't be a hypocrite.

I think the bottom-line question is: Is it worth investing that kind of money at running back if you don't have LaDainian Tomlinson or Adrian Peterson in the backfield (or, a decade ago, Barry Sanders or Emmitt Smith)?

Barber's awesome, but is he replaceable at the cost of $40 million?

I know this will be blasphemy to the Barber fans but here goes...

I have watched Felix and Choice quiet a bit and I have no doubt they could carry the load. Mainly because we are coming upon tough decisions with our cap situation and I think RB is one of the easier positions to fill.

I would rather keep Canty, Tnew, and Hamlin. I love Barber too but signing him would impact one of the guys I just listed. We have the most depth at CB and RB.

ummm i dont understand this,

and yall want to let him go

None of us want to let him go. The question is do you want to sign him for 40-60 million and let Tnew, Canty, or Hamlin go?

This is much bigger than Barber.

I will let Canty go,

I don't think anybody here particularly wants to lose Barber, but business is business, and if Rosenhaus and Barber give us the choice of 60m or free agency, we'd be idiots to pay that money. Barber is great, and if we can sign him to a modest starting running back deal then I hope we do it.

We have so many priorities right now higher than giving Barber the money he wants, like looking ahead to making DWare the highest paid defensive player in the league more than likely.

Some people just refuse to understand that we have a salary cap and that we are already pushing it. Ask AdamJt to be sure but I don't even think we have many people we could cut to increase that number. Come on people... we have a salary cap and we haven't even signed the rookies yet! Where do you think the money for MBIII's contract demands is going to come from? :bang2:

Amazingly, I haven't heard a whisper of a holdout, so where is that coming from and he hasn't been injured. I'm going by what I've heard, you are making up things to get worried about. We can play the "what if" game all day.

As Theo said, how many running backs have a 40 million dollar contract? The fact that we've heard 40-60 doesn't mean that's what he'll end up with. I don't think he's worth 40 either, but I also don't think that's what the contract will end up being.

He's not going anywhere this year. There is time enough to see what the new backs can do and what they can't. If Barber is essential to the team's success it will be evident. Or, if he is not essential . . . .

No, they measure it without shoes on. Don't know where he got his info. Jerry was also wrong when he said the kid is 6 feet, I think he got measured at a little over 5'10".

Adam's already weighed in on the subject, and he let us know how to save ~10M against the cap by restructuring 3 players. Something tells me he'd be in favor of retaining Barber with a fair contract.

Quick question, does anyone know how much cap space we currently have? I'm guessing it somwhere between 3-4 million.

As for the entire "Barber" saga. If Barber is a team player, wants to win a Super Bowl and become a Dallas Cowboys legand he will take the 42 million or whatever we are offering him and stay here.

If Barber is all about the money, winning isn't a top priority on his list and wants to basically cruise the rest of his career on a bad to average team than he will accept a 60 million dollar offer, from an idiot owner somewhere in the NFL.
