Amazingly, I haven't heard a whisper of a holdout, so where is that coming from and he hasn't been injured. I'm going by what I've heard, you are making up things to get worried about. We can play the "what if" game all day.

If I am making things up so are you. Both of us are stating opinions. The simple fact is neither one of us know what is going to happen.

There is nothing wrong with realizing we are thin on cap space and signing big contracts will affect other players.

So how about we both shut up then, since apparently neither one of us knows what we're talking about.

Good grief you overreact.

Best case scenario is that Barber signs a long term deal. Choice gets some time this year, and the team can trade one of the three away for multiple picks or a proven player at a need position.

Is Felix 5-8?.Watkins of DMN thinks he is.

That's the kind of reporting the DMN is giving us from its beat writers.

Oh, and just so you know, Tashard Choice could challenge for the No. 3 running back spot. You heard it from Calvin first.

How that guy got a job there, I have no idea.

As Theo said, how many running backs have a 40 million dollar contract? The fact that we've heard 40-60 doesn't mean that's what he'll end up with. I don't think he's worth 40 either, but I also don't think that's what the contract will end up being.

If its over 5-6 years I think that would be a great deal. Give him about what, 6-7 mil per year seems about right to me.

You can say what you want about Felix...

.. but he has amazing vision that few are blessed with. I look at Mendenhall over and over again and I just don't see it.

My big worry about Barber is longevity. I really don't think he can play too long with his running style.

I would like to keep Canty and think we'll work something out. With our emerging depth at CB and the going rate for shutdown CBs, I'm not sure we can afford to keep TNew if there is still a hard cap. Hamlin is a hard one because Pro Bowl safeties are now going for $6M+/yr. I'm not sure we can afford to pay that much to our safeties. Even if we cut Roy we have to deal with the cap implications of his SB.

:star: I certainly agree about the concern for Barber's longevity due to his running style. While I really enjoy seeing Barber move ahead for tough yards for us, I am concerned that his running style will shorten his NFL career though. I hope that Barber's contract demands do not price himself out of Dallas, but if he insists on being paid like LT in San Diego, I have a feeling he won't be wearing a star for much longer. Who knows...time will tell.

Good post that is pretty much the gist of this thread.

what makes me so upset is that if we don't lock up MB he is going to go somewhere and dominate. I like MB but I agree we can't over pay him...Why couldn't he just take the 30 mil

He'd better go somewhere with another RB to share the load. Otherwise, he is going to dominate the rehab room.

I don't know why some people think that MB can't carry the load. It's not like julius helped him out any last season

He sure seemed to run out of gas in the second half of the playoff game we lost to the Giants.

it could have been that he ran out of gas or it could've been the line breaking down due to the giants quick strong d-line. there is no doubt in my mind that Mb is gonna be leauge MVP one year

IMO, you'll never fully appreciate a runningback's vision from a highlight reel. I think you see it more in the 6-8 yard gains that would have been 2 yard gains by lesser backs.

Usually, the long runs come more as a result of the defense blowing an assignment and not because a RB made a good cut in the box.

Jones runs hard and he maintains speed when he cuts. I think he'll be fine.
