Fellas, the No. 2 seed doesn't look so out of reach

Ever since 2005 when I saw the Cowboys miss the playoffs after everything fell our way because Andy Reid and Filthy decided they were going to not play aggressive against the skins. I started believing the "spite you theory".

It may not happen often, but teams know.

There was nothing more demoralizing than knowing the Sunday night game vs. the Rams was meaningless. And then losing it in result.

We can only hope that things fall our way one more week. We do have a slight chance at getting it, but thankfully we already have our ticket and we're not having to stress over week 17.

I have a tough time believing that players really think this way... I think this is more "fan thinking".

I'd be shocked if a team just "laid down" to spite a rival.

These guys are playing for their jobs and their reputation and for a lot of money.

Well, let me provide one example from 2005. We need the Eagles to win their last regular season game for us to have a crack at the playoffs. We were due to play the Rams on Sunday night football that day, and needed help from the Eagles, and a win over the Rams to get in.

The Eagles were winning by a good margin in the 3rd quarter, and then pulled their starters in the middle of the 3rd. The backup QB then started throwing picks left and right. Andy Reid was kinda smiling at the time.

That was an epic tank job IMO.

Weren't the Eagles already in the Playoffs, though?

I think there's a distinction, but you never know.

Yes, the Eagles were already in. They were playing the Commanders. They had a double digit lead in the game, and chose to pull starters. It was Reid's body language that irked me. He was cracking a smile after his backup QB was throwing picks.

Minus the picks, they win that game, and we would have had a crack at the Playoffs if we beat the Rams later that day.

Reid knew what he was doing, and knew that their loss meant no playoffs for the Cowboys, while the Commanders would be in.

If the Giants win in the early game, I think GB will definitely have something to play for. If they win, they go to ARI the next week. If they lose, they go to DAL or MIN.
Everybody would then have much more to play for. A Giants win in the early game would mean that three of the four teams involved in the late games would then be playing for the #2 seed.

A lot of this hinges on the Giants beating Minny. If they lay an egg against them like they did against the Panthers it just means we all need to hate them even more than we already do. I am prepared to do that.

But for the coming week, go Giants.

Would anyone really be shocked by seeing New York beat Minnesota and Green Bay beat Arizona next week?

If we were to actually take care of business, holy cow. Can't believe it's this realistic of a possibility.

GB has basically nothing to play for, niether does NYG.

Arizona and Minnesota on the other hand DO have alot to play for.

I'd be shocked if both lost, yeah.

It wasn't NBC's call... it was the NFL's. But yes, the ball was dropped... it's just that it was dropped by the NFL.

Nice Sig!
Very cool.

Would the Giants really help us though? I think they'll lie down for the Vikings. Because the Giants winning would make our journey to the Superbowl that much easier.

They'd have no idea who they were "helping". Arizona needs NYG to win too, and if Arizona wins (likely) they'll be ahead of us regardless of what we do.

That Giants team Sunday just laid down and took it from Carolina. You could see it in their faces before the game even started, the Giants wanted no part of playing Carolina. They looked like they just wanted to go home during the pregame introductions.

Was kinda weird with a possible playoff spot on the line to just act like you dont give a dam and would rather go home and go back to bed.

If that same team shows up in Minny, the game will be over by halftime. Personally, I think the chances of the G-men winning are slim and none, I think they have already checked out for the year.

If the Giants don't come out and play hard then they are a bunch of gutless *****s.

The Giants Organization needs to find out who has heart and I have a lot of doubts about Coughlin just letting his team lay down. I don't think he would do it.

Giants playing @ noon is perfect but I just wish we had the night game.

NBC dropped the ball BIGTIME
.

I still think it had at least a little to do with the league and NBC deciding that our game the following week would be the Saturday night game on NBC.

I just don't see NYG beating Minnesota...they have to know that they would only help the 'Boys or Iggles by doing so...

Not many people saw the Bears beating Minn. I agree Minn will be the favor in this game but I think the Giants after such an embarrassing loss will go to Minn and put up a fight in that game. In no way do I see the Giants just laying down because the outcome could have positives outcomes for the Cowboys or Eagles, since it is not about the Cowboys and Eagles it is about the Giants own pride being on the line that may not be enough for the Giants to win but I do think they will put up a fight

Giants won't lay down.....and won't purposely lose because like others said, they're playing for their jobs......they just suck, so they'll lose

....unfortunately

(about them losing this week, not sucking, lol)

Bear suck worse and managed to pull off the win. Minn may get it back together but they seem to be having some issues of their own. They just gave up 36 points to a lousy Bears offense and the Minn Oline has been man handled in the last 2 games
