Feguson looks and plays a lot like Schultz, sometime I have to do a double take watching him. they run and play very similarly and freakishly they are built similary, with both 6''5" and 240ish.

so eating a bit of crow, some were crowning him after the draft. I was more like lets wait and see. so far in preseason he looks good, so I understand the cowboys wanting to wait before committing to Schultz. lets see what we got before we do approach, which is one smart move they made this off seson. I just hope ferguson continues and takes this to regular season.

the two of them should help our 2TE sets, with Ferguson being a better blocker. it will give defenses another thing to have to prepare for, which is advantageous to us. 2 TE, 2WR and 1 RB sets are very difficult to defend, specially if your TEs can block a little and can catch. throw McKeon in on some 3 TE sets, move the TEs around a bit, even line them up on the outside or in the slot (if Moore is smart enough to do that) and you can create a lot of mismatches.

I'm still wanting two see 2 RB sets. The possibilties to create favorable matchups are there also.
The the all-aroujd TE play early could set the tone for the Cowboys O to be as productive in late 2022 as it was in early 2021.

Schulz is good but we need better at TE
Ferguson will be the same
We better not sign Schulz to a big time deal just because he’s Daks friend
We need an upgrade at TE
I don’t think we need an upgrade over Shultz-Just need Ferguson to replace him and be a bit better blocker. You don’t need a weapon at TE just a solid outlet guy. Sure it would be great to have a Kelce but you can do just as well with play calling and other weapons

No need to pay Shultz big money next year. We have his replacement here already. Let Hendershot sit a year on the practice squad and there you go. Ferguson, Hendershot, and McKeon are our TE's next year.

If Dallas wants to be smart about the cap, this is what they'll do.
And we have Elliott's replacement! That's a GIGANTIC savings w/those two alone!

a great TE changes the offense and naked defense much tougher
Many of the best offenses have top TEs

Larger question is :
Is Shultz that much better to tie up an additional 10 Million is salary cap space?
This will be looked at hard after the season once we have a full season to evaluate their performance's.

I don’t feel like Ferguson is getting his due from the media. Having a steady backup TE was a huge concern coming into the season and dude keeps claiming it every practice and preseason game. I was more disappointed last night in Hendershot. They were talking dude up in the Cowboys pregame show and how he was the best vertical threat of the gang and could seal a spot if he showed it. So much for that, I think he had the most snaps too of all the TEs?

Why do we need to replace Shultz? What is it with you people and the Shultz hate? Top WR's your going to paying close to 30 million. Top TE's get around 15 million. Wouldnt you rather have a top pass catching TE over having to pay a WR?

Agreed. Moore has the weapons to use formations that can create mismatches

Pollard Zeke combo could create a lot of mismatches specially if they move pollard around

We want better at every position and that's hard to do.... You can't have elite every where. There is about 5 elite TEs....about similar for QB,ay e double that for WR...

Schultz is second tier....

And how do u upgrade?

I don't think we should pay Schultz, as much as I like him. Money can be and should be invested in other areas. If Ferguson is as good, the he is here for 5 years and we find his replacement over time.

If Schultz was elite. Then maybe

2023 NFL Draft (1st round): Cowboys select TE Michael Mayer

He has freakish ability to "break defender's ankles" as a route runner.
- His change of direction in route running is like the TE version of Amari Cooper.

Hendershot looked good last week.

I didn't focus on him this week.

Ferguson seems to have more wiggle to him after the catch. Schultz seem to be like Jason when he catches the ball he is going down to the ground instantly.
