Many got it right in this thread. The OP? Not so much. I really like Fergie and I think he will be a valuable asset. But great as in "the top 5“? Rather not.

Ferguson is just a JAG right now but he will have a chance in the regular season to prove his worth. No he is not close Shultz right now. Like the Dak haters some of you forget what Shultz did against Tampa in the playoffs.

Fergy is a good TE. He has a knack for contested catches in traffic, which is a very good thing. He usually comes through when you rely on him and is a solid blocker. I wanted Dallas to draft him and was glad when they did.

However, Andrews is probably a top 3 receiving TE and IMO, Ferguson won’t ever be that. He is a better blocker than Andrews though.

So, while I really like him (better than I did Shultz), I don’t see him attaining greatness. I’d like to see him be the 2nd TE in Dallas. He is very good for a TE2 and that is what I’m hoping he ends up being. If Schoon can come through and be a good player, then the offense will have two good blocking TE’s that can both gash a defense in the passing game. That will make the offense much better and add variety to what that side of the hall can do.

That is what I’m hoping for, and I think there’s a good chance the offense ends up with that by mid-season.

The TE from Kansas City seems to have a high opinion of him hopefully he's right.
He actually kind of reminds me of Kelce.

Not saying he's as good or will ever be as good, but I just see a few similarities there with size and how they move with the ball in their hands

Ferguson is the real deal at TE......should definitely be the starter this season with Schoon and Hendershot battling for TE2. The Cowboys will use lots of two TE sets so expect lots of PT for TE2 as well. But Fergie does have the talent to handle starter status.
It's odd though I haven't heard Henderson's name all training camp and in this preseason game #49 Stevens it looks like they were feeding him the ball this guy might take hendershot 's job I think it's McKeon that's on the bubble.. I'm not sure how deep they're gonna go but yes Ferguson already looked good last year I'm watching him in practice and now I saw this preseason game and he looks like he's already there like every bit as good as Dalton Schultz right now with much more of a ceiling

Yeah I haven’t seen nothing on Hendershot even the little out of town trip the guys went on he wasn’t there.

Yeah there's something weird going on,

maybe he's going to be suspended, maybe he's got on the wrong side of the coaches doghouse but seriously the way they #49 I think his name is Stephens, he's big and he looks like he can block and catch and I know McKeon is the one looking like he might get cut but the fact is we haven't heard hendershots name in practice, training camp, or a preseason game now.. I mean literally Hendershots name has not been come up at all this offseason..

Yeah they played guys like Bland extensively and he could very well start for them. Clark as well. So i'm not understanding why Hendershot isn't getting more touches.

I mean if we are being truthful I liked the guy last year but Ferguson was already better and then you draft Schoon who's suppose to be able to do the same things Hendershot while also being stronger, faster and a better blocker? His once interesting skillset just doesn't look as interesting this year. I mean some say we may take 4.....I dont' feel its necessary. Take 3 and stash some guys on PS.

Now this is my opinion but there's just something about him that has me feeling that way. I believe that he was held back by Schultz and we are going to see him blossom into a top10 TE this season. He reminds me of Andrews in Baltimore.
Jake Ferguson (129) is just a backup tight end based on what I saw on tape. He went too high.- Mel Kiper after the selection of Ferguson.

Ferguson is from Wisconsin, where players are so well coached, they are generally better in the Pros than in College. I too lauded Ferguson last year.
Yet the Badgers never win much of anything. I do like their new HC though.

I'm not going to pretend we need to wait and see for something so completely idiotic.

Jake Ferguson will never be great at anything pertaining to the NFL. You're simply fan boying right now because he makes a few plays.

Great is Rob Gronkowski. Jason Witten. Travis Kelce. That is not attainable for this player.
But you said Wince was going to be great. So we laugh at your predictions now. They all fail.
