263 yards zero TD’s 2024 . It seems when Dak finds him it’s a dump off for minimal gain . Two targets to tight ends in the end zone last night one to Schoon one to Spann Ford .

Obviously Ferguson is in the Tyler Smith category on this roster , a young building block in his first contract to hopefully be here when the winning resumes . This year he mirrors the offense , flat .

My fear on Ferg was always that he was too one dimensional as a receiver and teams would figure that out eventually. That doesn’t make him a bad TE but it keeps him from being an upper tier one.

Last year he had 66 catches either behind the LOS or under 10 air yards. So far this year he’s got just 7 catches of 10+ air yards. Part of it’s the offense, part of it is a struggling qb, but part of it’s also that Ferg isn’t a great vertical route guy.

I'd like to know the percentages for when opposing defenses are dropping back in coverage. One of the podcast mentioned they do it all game because we aren't effective at running the ball, don't run often enough, and when we do it's not going to be a massive gain even on a good play. We can't threaten a run, so all our pass catchers are going to struggle to get separation and find soft spots with multiple defenders playing the pass.

I dont think it's Ferg. It's too congested for him to shine. CD has been routinely taken out of games and even yesterday with a good game it took him an ungodly target number. I think it was 18 or something crazy like that.

Yeah opposing teams blitz the cowboys at one of the lowest rates in the league, I think the nfl advanced stats have it around 24% of the time.

I think that’s part of it, but the issue has been two years going now. When I watch tape I don’t see him beating guys down field either. He seems to be much better finding holes in coverage underneath.

He's the same guy he was last year - a classic Y type who can make some surprisingly tough catches in the intermediate area.

IMO, he's a winning player on a losing offense, and the latter is dragging him down. The offense can't sustain drives to give him volume and can't stretch the field to get him more open looks underneath. And he's not the type of game-changer who's going to blow a hole in the defense by himself. So all he can grab is checkdowns.

Ferguson only step back is Dak being his QB. How many passes other than an out or a screen have you seen Dak get him the ball. Don’t get this twisted

Well when you keep him into block frequently he can't get down the field.

Giving Dak a $60 million contract is the ultimate act of a bad GM. Sadly, Jerry fits that description to a "T." This is the heavy cross we bear! :omg:

None of the three game day TE’s dressing are doing any damage downfield . Kittle obviously one of the best had a clinic on Dallas safeties .

And one of the SF safeties is a rookie acquired in the Lance trade taken 124th player in last draft , Mustapha .

A large aspect I think of the breakdown of this offense is OL play and a disrespect of the RB’s . To me Beebe and Guyton are going to workout and eventually Bass becomes a starter next yr . Terence Steele is neither physical or quick off the ball , he has got to become nothing more then a swing tackle and this organization better respect the RB spot in 2025 , draft or FA .

Dowdle is someone you bring in for 7 or 8 runs a game , passes out of the backfield . Not an every down warrior who changes the complexion . Dak is resigned , going nowhere at the moment .

Sadly there was a reason the Cowboys reached for Schoonmaker in last year’s draft. The biggest mistake the Cowboys made was not Laporte over Mazi.

Excellent post . Mazi going to Trysten Hill files . Off production so far I see no reason for Schoon getting a second contract in Dallas .
