All these moves are questionable of course
and I am not going to defend my acceptance of Hardy.
Vick is too low on the human scale for my taste.

He's more than proved he deserves a second chance (which he has been granted). To say you'd prefer losing to having a quality backup sounds repulsive and the real issue probably isnt Vick's past criminal history.

Well I didn't get to see the game last night but I'm not too worried about the backup QB position because if Romo goes down for any length of time that's all she wrote. Same for just about every other team in the league as well.

this is the sort of thinking that goes into making excuses for horrible planning

a decent back up QB should be able to give you a chance if they have to start 1-2 games on a contending team with very good defense, great OL and good running game

we have known since last season that we don't have a back up QB that can give us a chance but our FO has done nothing about it

if we lose out on a playoff spot (or home field) by a game or 2 that romo missed, that is on these jokers

Which is why we need Charlie Chickenface, instead of Weeden or Vaughn. But I am guessing you already you know that. Sorry to insult your intelligence with such obvious comments.

I thought the emoticon would make it clear that I was just messing with ya, but clearly It didn't. My apologies.

Gus? Gus Johnson played last night? Doesn't he have a separated shoulder?

Yes, that's the one. He came in later and his first run was for maybe 10 and he looked quicker. He ran pretty well and I love that he was out there and not being coddled.

The guys on the Cowboys radio broadcast were so excited about that Rugby player, I wanted to smack 'em. I think they forgot whose side they were on every time he was returning a punt. Good grief.

Were they suppose to be cheering for our guys last night??? :lmao:

Not upgrading QB2 was (and is) a bigger concern for me than what we did at RB1, this offseason. That said, I didn't see anything from any of those guys last night that was all that unexpected, and I don't think it's a reason to be more concerned than we should have been already. Weeden is an old guy with a big arm and insufficient experience. He is what he is, and that's a below-average starter who limits your playbook significantly if Romo misses time.

Vaughan has all the tools. He took some big hits in the pocket and kept his eyes downfield and made the throws. The pick-6 was an awful play under pressure. He read it right and was going to the right place, he just didn't get the ball over the line. His second pick wasn't a horrible play, in my book. It was another good play by the defender. He did throw up a third gimme later on along the right sideline that should have been picked on a ball he was trying to get rid of (I think). That can't happen. But overall, given the pressure they were applying, the opportunities his WRs weren't giving him, and the problems his protection was having picking up the blitz and keeping him out of first and 10+, I didn't think he was nearly as bad as most seem to believe.

Showers...I like him more as a ST player than as a QB. He's definitely got a ton of physical talent, and I like his attitude. He's just got so much work to do to play QB at this level. He's got PS written all over him, still, and his showing last night didn't change that. He had the same problems handling the pressure that Vaughan did, and he looked shaky for similar reasons most of the time.

Our ST were awful last night, but that's usually the case in these PS games for Dallas. I do wish I wasn't seeing Bailey missing FGs. And I don't think Whitehead gives us anything that's not replaceable on the street after cut downs if we can upgrade there.

Coleman makes my team at this point. He's gotten better this offseason, and I think he's producing to a point where he ought to be stealing snaps, and maybe some starters snaps on that line. I've been impressed with him.

It's been mentioned, but Keith Smith came out of nowhere last night and made some plays. Gus ran pretty hard, too. We had issues with our run fits with the 'first' string DLs, but overall, many of the front seven players played well. When you're sacking their mobile starting QB when he's in shotgun with your backup DLs, you know you're doing something right.

Does anybody else think Vince Young might be a better pinch QB than anybody we have on the roster?

Yeah, I'm a Longhorn Alum. I really wish we could have gotten McCoy to back us up. Weeden is hot garbage.

Don't want Vick at all and I don't think he's much of a QB anymore anyway.

Insofar as talent and durability, Vick strikes me as a QB version of Darren McFadden, although I'd easily give McFadden a big tip of the hat w/respect to any comparison of their character.
