If a coach's choice of clothing is so irrelevant, why the hell do people like yourself have such a big problem with it?

Opposed to it? I think it is dumb for Nolan to be going around crying that you cannot wear a suit and for others to claim wearing a suit shows class or that you are dressing for success. My argument is with those who claim that somehow wearing a suit would honour the past and make coaches classier. Those are the silly arguments against which I am arguing.

Time have changed from when coaches wore suits on the sidelines. There were no casual Fridays then, women only wore skirts to work, guys wore suits to sporting events etc

Do I think the NFL should forbid coaches to do so, no, but given the amount of coin the NFL gets from marketing fan gear and who gets focussed in on a ton during the game for people to see the fan gear, oh yeah the coaches, I can understand the policy. If the NFL can forbid guys from using the football as a prop in celebrations, it also can surely force coaches to wear fan gear.

Just because mumbles takes it to the extreme does not mean all coaches will. There is nothing preventing a coach from wearing a nice team sweater or jacket in the colder weather. Parcells never looked "unclassy" by the way he dressed, maybe when he went to punch his WR coach in Seattle he did, but not because of how he dressed.
