Figures of Speech That Should Disappear Forever

back long ago, you had chamber pots in the bedrooms before they had indoor toilets.
You had to be pretty poor not to have a pot
I know the etymology, but it's long past relevant. I actually don't care if the expression stays or fades off into oblivion. I just think it fits the thread.

"No offense, but ... " has got to go. It's just an excuse to say something totally offensive with impunity. They're like, "No offense, but I think you're worthless human garbage who should be shot out of a giant slingshot into a brick wall, burned to ashes, and forgotten forever, and then your whole family should be executed by wrecking ball and discarded at the city dump ... but no offense."

Two drivers I used to work with, a skinny little guy named Rob and Heifer named Dave, were in the dispatch area with me one day. Rob started telling me a story: "So I'm going down 91 South and this fat slob - no offense, Dave - drives by..."

I said, "What the? You weren't even talking about Dave! Saying 'No offense' just made it offensive!"

“Dave, I don’t care what everyone else says, you’re not a slob to me.”

Some others that drive me nuts:
"I should have went ..." No, it's "I should have gone ..."

"Led Zeppelin were a rock band."
I'm told that's actually a correct variant, but it drives me nuts. "Led Zeppelin was a rock band" sounds right to me.

Something I've seen some people here do, as well as my sister in law: They say things like, "The yard needs mowed.", instead of "The yard needs to be mowed."

Hamlet would sound much different. "Or not...That is the question."
