Because Dalton vultured the targets and rightly so. Someone will step forward this year like Dalton did the last few.
I am not saying those two are bums, I just think the Cowboys need a better prospect at tight end then a 4th round pick and UDFA.

Idk why people are saying Gilmore is a “slight upgrade”. Forget who we played at CB2 last year? As for Schultz, Ferguson is already at least as good or better. Don’t see tight end as a need except for depth.

When Witten left, the Cowboys thought Blake Jarwin was going to be his replacement, and signed him to an extension. Dalton Schultz was just “some 4th round JAG tightend” who would never be anything special. Jarwin flamed out, and Schultz stepped up.

Now people are worried that Ferguson is just “some 4th round JAG tightend” who will never be anything special. LOL. The Cowboys drafted Ferguson with the 129th pick, and the absolute intention of him replacing Schultz (137th pick) this year. That doesn’t necessarily mean the Cowboys won’t spend a high pick on another tightend if he’s the BAP. But I think they have a lot of confidence in Ferguson.

We don't know yet if Ferg is just as good, but I also don't think TE needs to necessairly be a day 1 or 2 pick. If a good value prospect falls to us in the 2nd or 3rd round then fine but I don't feel the need to come away with one early.

I much rather sign Brate for a year for insurance though than spend a premium pick on TE this year.

CB - Stephon Gilmore - slight improvement. short term solution. need to look for replacement already.
S - re-signed Donovan Wilson - stayed the same no improvement.
LB - re-signed Leighton Vander Esch - stayed the same, needed improvement
Edge - re-signed Dante Fowler, Jr. - stayed the same, needed improvement
DT - re-signed Johnathan Hankins - stayed the same , needed improvement.

QB - re-signed Cooper Rush - stayed the same, needed improvement
RB - Ronald Jones, Franchise Tag Tony Pollard - hmmm, interesting. less depth perhaps. and Tony was injured.
OT - 2nd round tender offer to RFA Terrance Williams
OG - Chuma Edoga
TE - Fill from within (Ferguson & Hendershot) - slightly worse as both showed potential, but not proven.
WR - Brandin Cooks - slight improvement.
Gilmore rated as a top 10 CB last year. That's a huge upgrade over Anthony Brown, Nashon Wright and Kelvin Joseph.
