What I’ve noticed with Cole Beasley is how the Cowboys have schemed him into the right matchups/ coverages. Whenever Beasley is in the game, he’s typically lined up in the slot, with Jason Witten lined up on the same side of the field with him. This is vital to his success, because Witten will often draw linebackers and safeties out of the middle of the field to force man to man coverage in the slot with Beasley. Let me show you:

Beasley is perfect in the role that he serves on this team; however, as you pointed out, they scheme a lot of his success. I don't see him ever being a true #2 WR.

Yep. I still believe he's a big part to their passing success.

I do think there are players that could evolve into this type of role, but they never get the opportunity that Beasley received from the Cowboys. Many teams won't give those guys a true chance. It's a big strain on the 46 man game day roster to keep a small non-starting WR active that does not play special teams. Obviously, it's easier now that he is a proven commodity, but many of those smallish players never get the chance to prove themselves in the first place.

very true, but he doesnt have to be, and that, to a degree is what makes him so dangerous and puts a ton of pressure on opposing D.

How much do they pay him. I think the tender is something like 2.2M. Do they tender him or try to get a longer term contract done and would they pay him over 2M on a long term deal?

I'd give him a 2nd round tender.

Scheme has good part in it.

He is just hard to cover.

Couldn't stand this guy for the longest time. I'm glad we finally started seeing the fruits of sticking with him.

Blows my mind with all those clamouring "I'd give up Bease for a 2nd"....i seriously think they don't watch the plays, just root when something good happens-then screams like a girl when something bad happens.

SMH.... Bease is worth so much in the offense that they scheme to get HIM the ball.

He is slippery, and tends to make something happen after the catch quite frequently.

For anyone that comes in this thread trying to front because bees doesn't fit what they think a good receiver should look like...
just give it up and just admit it... he's good, and excellent in the slot.... and it just didn't happen... he played well the last half of last year.

He was very fortunate.
Usually a guy in his position is expected to be a big contributor in special teams. No doubt

If he can put on some weight, put on some muscle, that may happen.

But not now, he is too small.
