Free is far from the biggest issue and he is not as bad as fans believe he is. People trashed Harris last year and now praise him
Free is a middle of the pack nfl tackle, there are some better and some worse. Green may be the future or he may not. Time will tell but I suspect it won't be as fast as some fans want

I certainly wouldn't expect it next year and wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen the year after that. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Green never develops into a starter and the only time Free is replaced is when he chooses to retire.

People don't want to admit it because it takes away from their Free and Carr whipping boys agenda but Doug Free has played as well as out "franchise" tackle Tyron Smith. Also Carr has been our best CB this year.

I'm not with you on either of those.

You want to compare his salary to guys playing on rookie contracts?

Compare Free to T Smith and Free has played close enough to Smith to be considered a bargain.
No, but the point is that Free isn't the guy you keep to afford the other guys. Free is the guy you cut when the other guys need to get paid.

I would say free is the guy you draft a replacement for. Until you have a better cheaper option you understand you are getting an average tackle at an average veteran salary.

He isn't all world but he is only getting beat up on around here every week because people need easy targets to blame. If his play was elevated to T Smith level this season we would still be 3-8. He is a so what player. Not this gaping hole that we need to fill.

There aren't a lot of great right tackles floating around the league. He's replaceable, for sure, but his replacement isn't on this roster.

Free, the RT turnstile for the Dallas Cowboys, is nothing more than a free ticket to the QB. He looks
old, brittle and stiff to me.

Free; old, stiff and brittle, but Tony can play another 4-5 years! LOL!

Why do you assume hes missing Callahan? he had an awful season with Callahan as a coach too.

I don't buy into the whole Callahan thing but I can see why some buy into it.

IMO, all of our tendencies with downs and formations are why we are struggling.

The other team straight up knows the play and when Romo isn't here the other team just doesn't respect the pass.

You have to have a guy like Free so you can afford the other studs, in a cap world, you can't have it all.

Most reasonable answer. You can't have All Pros at every position, sometimes you have to have serviceable tackle so you can have a top flight LT, Center and RG.

I don't think Callahan wanted to go with him primarily. He wanted to retain another guy. That being said he was not bad last year.

It's both, more the playbook than anything else. Callahan built the line and the running schemes, so the quality is still there. A couple years will give you a better picture.

That's why I don't think it's Callahan.

I don't think our struggles with Callahan gone would immediately show up right away like they have.

I blame it on tendencies and lack of passing game. If they fix those 2 things then the OL will be fine.

We've gone out most Sundays this year gifting teams the information of when and where we will run without a passing game.

There have to be guys out there better than Free even if they aren't perennial Prow Bowlers.

You have pretty high standards I suppose

I'll say this again...

I have seen, in person multiple times..... A 3rd grade team with a better scheme than ours.

It is mind baffling our ineptitude
