The voting was a joke before last night, no reason to think it would be any different now.

I think Utah deserved to be #2
I Agree with that top 5 in the list...some of the things after that are questionable.

Let Utah play in a real conference. That's all I ask.

That's what they said about Boise State when they beat OU two years ago in the Fiesta Bowl.

Just because they don't play in one of the Big Conferences does not mean they don't deserve to be ranked highly, they already got snubbed for one of the better BCS bowls.

Florida State played for years in the ACC when it was not that good of a conference. It took several seasons before they lost a conference game. That didn't keep FSU from being highly regarded on the national scene.

It helped when you put Florida and Miami on the schedule especially when Miami was one of the top teams in the nation and was not in the ACC at that time, Miami joined the ACC July 1, 2004

This just supports the fact why polls suck and we need a playoff system...

Texas beat OSU in their bowl game. Texas drops a spot to #4 while OSU moves UP a spot to #9...

These dolts have no business voting on teams...

I have no issue with the top 5. That looks about right to me.

Only problem I have with it is that it is an opinion not based on any hardcore facts.

This is true but it's the system in place so I have to go by whether I agree with what they did there, based on their system, and in this case I agree with their rankings.

Normally I don't.

I believe playoffs are absolutely needed but not likely to happen anytime soon.

I agree it is the system that is in place but it is a system based on opinion. It is the only sports I know where the actually champion is champion only in name. Hell even High School football produces an actual champion based on head to head compitition within a playoff

The thing that I found funny was the discussion on ESPN m&M this morning. In one sentance, they were saying that Florida is the clear champion and that USC was probably more talented but didn't play the schedule and that Texas fell down against OSU. The next minute they were saying that the way Florida came from behind to win and the fact that they did that shows the mark of a true champion etc., I'm like, :bang2:

I don't get it but it is what it is. I said it earlier and all the OU faithful jumped down my throat on it. Nobody liked Texas this year. All year long, people have been finding reasons to down grade them when all that team did was win. Next year I suppose.

You beat me to it, there is no comparison between Utah now and Florida State then.

USC deserves major props for showing up in a bowl game that didn't matter. Texas and Alabama were not ready to play.

I agree I will say in fairness to Utah, they went out and played a great game against Bama and I would like to see how they would fair in a playoff. I don't want to dismiss them outright but it is much harder when in most weeks you play you are facing top ranked competition compared to a team who may see 1 or 2 ranked teams within a season.

I think USC did a great job I also think OSU with almost a month to get ready for the game vs Texas deserves credit for going out and playing a good physical game. I don't think Texas was not ready to play I agree with Mac Brown winning is what is important not how many points you win by when you are facing a very good team.

USC showed up because they played that game right down the street. They had no choice but to show up. Maybe it's only me but if we played OSU in Austin, I think we would have shown up for the first half as well. I guess I just don't get the whole USC love thing. They are good but they only beat Penn St., a team the was very lucky to beat OSU (13-6), 38-24 at home. I mean, is that really that big of an accomplishment?

I guess it is. If your going to look at this and say, it's not the schedule you played and how you performed but the potential of how good you think a team is, then you gotta give the #1 to Utah, I would think. If your looking at what each team has accomplished and basing things off that then there is no way USC should be ranked higher.

That's how I see it anyway.

No, they don't... and USC doesn't deserve to 3rd...

The proper order is Florida, Texas and Oklahoma... you can't jump SC and Utah over Texas, not when Texas won their bowl game against a top 10 team...

I said in this forum for most of the season I thought Florida was the best team so I'm certainly not surprised today but if they played USC right now? I'm not so sure they win.
