A lot has been made about the decision to throw a deep pass on 3rd and 10 and save the Jags a time out and rightly so. However, that series, which burned a pathetic 27 seconds off the clock, was jacked up from the first play. What are we doing running a slow developing play that has Zeke moving parallel to the line of scrimmage on 1st down? That gets blown up immediately for a loss of yardage, which puts us behind the chains. The 2nd down play call was the same run up the gut to Pollard we called 20 times before in the game. It gets three yards and leaves us in 3rd and long. If you are going to throw the ball in this series, why not a screen pass there--oh, right we don't do those--or have Dak roll out with an option to throw to a crossing TE or run the ball himself?

Then comes the dreaded third down deep throw: incomplete, clock stopped, Jags time out still in the pocket. Almost any other play call is better here. Run the ball, the Jags will burn their last time out. Again, roll Dak out give him the option to throw to a crossing player or run himself. If you are going to pass, make it a higher percentage play, with the option to run and keep the clock moving.

Just an ugly, incompetent, complete fail all around.

All the math says you run there and kill not only the last Jags timeout, but also more seconds on the clock. See, that is the real kick in the pants from that stupid call. It not only saved a timeout, it saved more time on the clock. The risk reward ratio was clearly on the side of run and punt.

Again, any Madden or Tecmo Super Bowl player would have made the right call there. It's an easy call.

Just a great write-up. This is where the game was lost. If the opponent has time outs, running the ball will not milk the clock.

I'm not suggesting I have the answers, but if we hold individual players responsible for any and everything because of their salaries, why is the OC not skewered on this site after a series that just handed the ball to the Panthers?

I think they thought they would at least get a PI.

That play call and design were stupid. Period. No underneath route, no safety valve. Just run 3 guys vertically on a 3rd and 10? Kellen Moore situationally is a moron

The fact that we have zero screen game is embarrassing. They should have lined up tight and slammed it in three times or screened.

Childish play calling

The first play of that series absolutely was the worst in execution. That series needed the coaching staff to huddle the offense and remind everyone the importance of doing job in close game. Dallas fails miserably in these areas throughout most games leading to our inconsistent play.

You’re just making stuff up about the math. I would bet that the math actually says for for the first down.

Like I keep saying.. Moore has no feel for play calling. He has to go.. I'm convinced he's the one that has gotten Dak on this "be aggressive throwing the ball" kick. And it keeps biting this team in the butt. The one in OT that bounced off Brown.. should have been complete but that 3rd down in the 4th quarter was absolute horse bleep game management by all involved.

Was just a terrible sequence with the game on the line.
Will never understand a deep pass to a covered receiver on 3rd down.

So why did the defense have to allow the Jags to drive down quickly in FG range? Im thinking THAT is the worse offense.

Maybe he is trying to undermine McCarthy for the HC position. I mean. He did learn under Garrett

Is it Moores fault that your hero got stuffed for -3 yards on first down? And if Moore calls a pass play there you are crying that he is too pass happy.

You're right the math does probably say go for the first down.. But nowhere does it say "take a deep heave low percentage pass" to do it. If you're going to throw there it needed to be complete so as to make sure the clock keeps running. Hit a TE, a back, something short.. Not three friggin verticals with no outlet.

My response would be to run a safe slant. Troy and Michael would always run it. Dumb throw by Dak if he made the decision to go deep. I wouldn't of given him that option. At some point these coaches have to put their stock into these types of games. Just my opinion.
