I've recently joined Netflix and though rating everything I've ever known (4600+ thus far), I've run across some profiles with similar favorites that I was previously unaware, so I rented them. Some of them I loved, some.. meh. But it has made the journey interesting.

Here are some of the good movies I was previously unaware of:

The Machinist
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
11:14
Green Street Hooligans
Oldboy
Pan's Labyrinth

Sure, most know about The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Seven and the like, but what are those gems that you know of that I probably don't or didn't give a chance?

Next in my queue is:

A Fistful of Dollars
The French Connection
Mitch Hedberg: Mitch All Together

Concerning Hedberg, if you've never seen him live, you might just want to buy the CD's. I'm a huge fan of his, but he was incredibly uncomfortable to watch on the stage IMO.

...and you've probably seen them, but if you haven't:

True Romance
Shaun of the Dead

Yea, I heard that Hedberg would look down or even lie down behind the curtain due to his anxiety. I have heard most of his stuff but I've only seen clips of it on film.

Yep, those two movies are among my all time faves.

One of the best movies I've seen through Netflix over the past year was a spanish-language movie called: "Ladron Que Roba a Ladron."

I don't speak Spanish, so yes, it's subtitled, but it's very funny and well-written despite having to deal with the subtitles.

Anyway, I highly recommend it.

If you liked Pan's Labyrinth, you might like Devil's Backbone. Same director, also has subtitles.

A lesser known movie I like is October Skies. Formula 51, Lock, Stock and two smoking Barrels.

The Proposition is a great movie.
It's a western, of sort's, set in 1800's Australia, starring Guy Pearce and Ray Winstone. Well worth the watch, I was surprised at such a good movie, being largely ignored.

Thanks. I am lacking on many classics and need to catch up, especially the westerns and war movies. Last one I watched was A Bridge Too Far a year or so ago.

I added Devil's Backbone. Have you seen Layer Cake? As a fan of Formula 51 and Lock Stock, I loved it.

One that sort of flew under the radar is "A Bronx Tale," starring DeNiro. It's outstanding.

An obscure movie that I really like is "Flashpoint," starring Kris Kristofferson and Treat Williams. It's about a couple of U.S. Border Patrol agents who stumble on to some clues/evidence in the Texas desert about the JFK assassination.

Another one is "The Mean Season," about a newspaper reporter to whom a serial killer starts corresponding with. Starring Kurt Russell.

King of New York - Christopher Walken, Lawrence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, David Caruso

Network - "I am mad as hell and I am not gonna take it anymore"

Run - Patrick Dempsey, Kelly Preston... pretty underrated if ya ask me.

Has to be one of the most boring actors ever. I don't know how he keeps getting roles.
