The Proposition is a great movie.
It's a western, of sort's, set in 1800's Australia, starring Guy Pearce and Ray Winstone. Well worth the watch, I was surprised at such a good movie, being largely ignored.

I really liked that movie as well, it was great

a couple of years ago, I was browsing in the independent section of Blockbuster, and I came across this Korean movie, about the Korean War, it was such a great movie, in the vein of Saving Private Ryan, same gritty, bloody, action sequences and a similar type of story line, but concerning 2 brothers, can't remember the name for the life of me, it was a mid/late 2000s when it came out, I would like to find it and buy it

edit: I found it!

Tae Guk GI - The Brotherhood of War

awesome, awesome movie

You sure you don't mean this one?

Southern Comfort(2001). This moving documentary chronicles the last year in the life of Robert Eads, a female-to-male transsexual dying of ovarian cancer.

I really enjoyed that -- and I have to note that it was written by Nick Cave -- who is one of my favorite musicians.

Not that one at all.

The Southern Comfort movie he mentioned is as good as he said.

These are some older movies you can get on Nextflix:

A Fistful of Dollars
is the first of the three Spaghetti Westerns starring Clint Eastwood. The other two are A Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Another Eastwood western is Hang 'Em High.

Patton
is a war movie about General George Patton in WWII.

McLintock! a western comedy with John Wayne.

Witness for the Presecution

Anatomy of a Murder
with James Stewart.

Spencer's Mountain - Henry Fonda

That movie is my first exposure to Nick Cave and I have to say I was impressed with both the screenplay and the soundtrack. Seems like a really talented guy.

+1 on the Proposition.

Two of my favorite classics:

American Graffiti
The Outsiders

I also suggest checking out some older movies. I started watching some older stuff a few years ago, and I still can't get Audrey Hepburn out of my head.

He's written books, the screenplay for the Proposition, done the music for several movies, most recently the Assassination of Jesse James (which was a slow but good movie), and been actively recording and touring for about 30 years. His latest album Dig Lazarus Dig! is one of my favorites of the year.

He is very talented -- I've heard people call him this generation's Neil Young or even Johnny Cash (who recorded one of his songs on I think the 3rd American Recordings album and did a duet with him on the next AR album).

actually, I went to netflix to look up Southern Comfort and this was the first thing that popped up. Also, by typing the words, I immediately got a hangover. But that is a story for another day.
