Offense is fine..In my opinion we need to commit to the run to win games with a lead late in games. Don't get away from the run because we are down 7

So you say the offense is fine but you admit it abandons the run so which is it?

Third straight year in the bottom 10 in pass defense, right? Not exactly a mystery what's holding us bank from the brink.

Yes, it's on Garrett to fix it, but when it's a single limitation holding you back, and your coach has demonstrated the ability to address position group limitations, it makes a lot more sense to stay the course than it does to blow things up and introduce a dozen other breaking points.

and that's why most coaches would do everything to try to negate their weaknesses. JG doens't, he just passes and passes some more. Why try to control the clock with balance while keeping your terrible D off the field.

The defense was a major problem for the second year in a row. No doubt it contributed very well to losing many games.

But that isn't a good enough excuse to defend Garrett. We lost 5 of our 8 games where we were better on turnover differential. How many times did our anemic offensive strategy leave a crappy defense on the field? No doubt the defense needs adjustment and work, but we lost games on coaching as well.

Im not defending Garrett but his offense scored many more points and carried this team this year, Yes He needs to run the ball better no doubt but this defense is beyond atrocious. I don't care who is hurt who we didn't have we need a complete overhaul wasted draft picks on kids doing nothing, WE NEED DEFENSE been saying it for years. Thats how you win.

Balance doesn't solve anything. Scoring points does.

JG moved aggressively to address the turnover and pass defense shortcomings last offseason. He was successful in one area and failed miserably in the other.

The defense was worse than the offense but the offense underperformed. The offense should have been awesome.

Agreed. Given the talent, they should have been even more productive on offense. The defense was terrible primarily because of the talent but no one should overlook the fact that game management and lack of offensive big plays hindered the success of this team on game day.

At this stage, there really is no good excuse for keeping JG. The least bad excuse is continuity -- you don't want to jump the gun before giving a coach a chance to acquire his players, instill his philosophy and install his system. He's had 3.5 years and there are really zero signs of progress anywhere.

There are no positive indications that JG is about to become a good coach.

Balance doesn't solve everything but it gives you a better oppurtunity to win games.

It really doesn't. Passing effectively does, and that includes setting up your passing offense by running in certain situations, but that's not "balance." Balance is irrelevant.

We also became far less effective on third down on offense. I'm not sure if the two are related but I think there is something to be said for it being so.

The defense was worn down in games because of poor offensive playcalling and game management.

While I agree with the poor offensive game planning and management part, the defense wasn't 'worn down.' They just stunk.

I don't think we should. The real issue this year was the Defense. They stunk it up and lost way too many games for us.

Three straight years where he failed to get us in the playoffs despite only needing a win in the last game. Even a bad coach should win one of those three. That isn't even mentioning his colossal chokes to the Giants, Cardinals, Packers, Lions etc which made those said games win and in types.

following your logic through to it's end, if that is the case, then no coach should get credit because after all, he doesn't do anything right?

This is the thing I like about Garrett - he recognizes the problems and each offseason does things to address them. THat's fantastic. But he just seems to be a poor in-season coach in my opinion.

If you mean game day, I agree he's got a lot of limitations there. He's good at addressing the longview, though.
