another coke reference? glad only windmills is the one played out. it's also out there that coke did the entire thing as stunt to garner attention and never had any intention of NOT switching back. but sure, consumers did it. but even if consumer driven, why? cause it didn't sell. not because people whined and kept buying.

So what are you saying? That Cowboy fans are so sheepish that they'll continue to buy an inferior product? They can't help themselves? Jerry doesn't accept that mode of thinking, so why should we?

no. do whatever you wanna do. but if you want to be effective it will need to be a lot more than this and not just fan whine

I see. Pointing out problems is summarily dismissed as "whining." Were we "whining" about Flo's false starts, Tony's carelessness with the ball, or the play of our atrocious special teams? We, as fans, can't change any of those things either, but we still weigh in.

i thought i was pretty clear. stop buying it and he'll quit selling it.

pointing out a problem that's not going to change and then going BUT WE CAN IF WE TRY!!!! won't change it.

whiners never changed anything. they usually just whine at the ones trying.

you're mixing up talking about the problem vs. changing it pretty liberally. you say we can effect change if we try (i disagree here but ok) then you say you just wanna sit here and talk about it.

and that, my friend, is why it won't change.

I'd do a thread making a case for Jerry to remain the GM but the howling masses can't handle it.

You should do it. I could use a good laugh right now and I'd love to see who all follows suit with you.

While you're at it, do a thread making a case for Campo to be the next HC, it ought to be about as compelling.

go run and be free. annoy jones till you simply can't annoy him anymore. but he doesn't read this bbs as far as i know, so you're only annoying people who realize these windmills are not going anywhere.

now how productive is that in your dream, bb?

if you want change that badly go do it. it won't happen in here and judging from the replies, a grassroots movement isn't likely to happen here either.

and if i paid hundreds of millions of my dollars for something i'd NOT let some whiney fans tell me what to do with my property. would you? what has jones ever done or said to make someone think this would be possible?

again, if you want to change jones, then going after him would be a good place to start. whining in here is just whining.

Well, perhaps the point of doing it here is not to get Jerry's attention just yet, but that of the fans. In order to join the cause of the initial post.

I don't think anyone in their right mind believes Jones reads any message boards, but if the idea is to get Cowboy fans to behave in a way that might influence him, the most logical place to start is, where Cowboy fans hang out: message boards such as this.

As for property, the Dallas Cowboys and any sport team or entertainment enterprise is not really the property of anyone exclusively. If having grown men play in your yard for you and only your pleasure, that might be a salient point, but when you expect people to prop up your entertainment enterprise with their hard earned money, for said entertainment, you'd do better to realize that 'whiny' customers are your friend. Your very best friend in fact, if you want to keep your enterprise turning a profit.

Of course, like many corporations The Dallas Cowboys have attained such a degree of wealth as to be self sustaining and really bankrupting it might be a lesson in futility and only a generations long decline could really make a difference.

That said, I think the people proposing these things do exactly what they say they're going to do: boycott, put up billboards, write letters. Why not? It's something of a showing of passion.

but not likely to change anything. it's just a dead horse people run to. bb says "well no one has tried!" fine. no has tried to get the "fire jones now!" brigade to stop posting that, have they?

any chance of that succeeding?

they wanna whine about jones, fine. i wanna whine about their whining. either way both problems will still exist cause they just do.

telling jones how to behave won't change him. stop buying his product may.

You wanna whine about their whining, and I wanna whine about your whining about their whining; it'll be anarchy I tell ya. ;)

I do have to say I can respect the efforts of people willing to get billboards, URL's and write letters though. Whether or not it makes a difference, it's cool they have the passion to give it a try.

heh, yep.i'll give them credit for that. but it is like a windmill to me in that not likely to get your desired result. if the desired result is to vent, it's a great move. if it's to effect change, it's likely to only strengthen jones' position.

so far it's a mixed bag of whining with a pipe dream jb welded to the end for good measure.

and if anyone whines about your whining about my whining about their whining, i'll give them what for for you!

A few thousand fans is not going to do squat to Jerry. I'm pretty sure he has sponsors that give him tons of money. Now, getting the sponsors to rethink their position, maybe, but you need the majority of them to be succesful.

The TV revenue alone keeps the Cowboys running most likely. But, yeah, let's fans CHANGE THE WORLD....good luck with that! As if we don't have more important things going on besides the Cowboys...yet, let's do billboards, web sites, letters...

Stupid....

I agree that Jerry doesn't care about the fans and is more concerned about himself than the team. It's all about Jerry, but more power to those who at least want their voices heard instead of just bending over and taking it and then saying thank you afterwards.

Did you watch any Cowboy games this year? If so, you can strighten up now!

i disagree oddly enough. i think he cares greatly about the team just not always good at putting it together.

now let me ask you, if you know jerry isn't going to change, and you feel he's just giving it to you bent over, why do you stay bent over vs. going elsewhere? its like you know the bullet is coming but you sit there and wait for it anyway, but complaining it's coming.

as for voices heard, we're to re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-heard now. we get it. he sucks. 1 more "he sucks!" is just one more.

Answer my question, honey! Did YOU watch any Cowboys games?

Also, what have YOU done, besides ***** and moan, to try and get rid of Jerry? And your little train don't count.

You're the biggest whiner for years now, yet, guess what? You're still here, probably "bending over and taking it then saying thank you" just like you suggest the rest of us do.

I think it's way off base to say jerry doesn't care about the fans. That's not the issue. The real problem is that he wears too many hats in the organization, and so he becomes bigger than the head coach, from just a responsibility point of view.

That's just it, I don't know he isn't going to change. I saw him go from Switzer to Gailey to Campo - undermining all three along the way and desecrating the personnel. Then all of a sudden once it got so bad he finally turned to a real football guy to clean up the mess. Too bad once he left Jerry went back to many of his same old ways.

But I do see where he did change once, if only briefly, and still have some hope he could again. But hopefully it'll be before he ruins it back into the ground like he did under Campo's time here.

As for you, what do you ever do but complain about people discussing the team and the situation? You have over 17,000 posts yet most are just complaints about others. And yet you act like those of us talking about the team are wasting our time? Does irony mean anything to you?

As for bending over, I'm not bending over. That's what those who just sit back and take it are doing. But yeah, either way nothing will likely change because of what anyone on here says. But if this board is only in existence to affect change, then it may as well close up now, because I don't see the loyal sheep affecting change either, nor any point to their thousands of posts.

whining about bending over doesn't mean you're not bending over too dude. and i also totally disagree those who don't go WAH are bending over.

i agree i think jones is slow but getting there. but is it because you go WAH all the time or these random billboards, or could it be he's actually got "some" smarts in there?

if most of my posts are whining at the whiners, why are they ok to whine and i'm doing the party foul?

Meh, that'll never work.

Now a billboard...

I have been slowly converted to the billboard. I was against it at first, but I have seen the error of my ways.
