Firing everyone is a popular idea until - then what?

The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference.

I no longer get much from this circus. I’m now of the opinion that Jerry is a malignant cancer and anything short of him being removed from the team is just a band aid.

So fire em all. Don’t fire em all.

Whatever.

It’s been more of the same for 3 decades.

IMO the NFL stands for Not For Long for players, coaches and GMs.

Eventually the game changes and either the player slows down, the coaches are stuck in their outdated schemes or the GM just can't build for the current era of football.

What may of been relevant even 10 years ago, may not be now.
I think Bill B is one of the greatest coaches of all time. His drafts were great, he could out scheme anyone, until he couldn't any more.
His later drafts turned out more busts than players, and his ability to confuse offenses went out the window.
I like the “Not for Long” analogy for people in the NFL. Sadly it does not apply to the owner here and his kids. They have lifetime contracts regardless of results.

All great coaches, players and even GMs have a shelf life - except if your names is Jones and you’re related to Jerry.

Jerry and his entitled son are both in waaaay over their heads when it comes to talent evaluation and roster building. The ONLY success we’ve ever had happened when competent people were in charge and he let them lead.

Jerry has never been good at building teams.

Whenever we beat the Patriots in New England I knew it was over. If you get outcoached by the Cowboys you've got some serious problems. The game obviously passed him by and I remember those drafts towards the end - they looked like some of Jerry's drafts from 1995 to 2002. I won't mention 94 because we got Larry Allen.

This is why I don't get all the people on this site that like to berate people that have a negative outlook for this team or refuse to buy into Jerry's BS every offseason. There is 0 hope for this franchise with these clowns in charge. I for one refuse to pretend that there is..
I hate these negative guys. Jerry is trying very hard to find 53 All-Pro guys to carry our baby qb.

at seasons end.
then hire mike tomlin.
but until the gm is gone nothing serious will happen.
which is why he would not hire tomlin.
he'd hire christian parker instead.

Amidst the calls for Brian Schottenheimer and Chris Parker to be fired, there are two sizeable problems standing in the way. One is a stubborn cheapskate soon to be 84 year old owner/GM/micro manager, and the other is….then what?

Jerry won’t fire Schotty with two and half years left on his contract. Why? Because he’s cheap. Even when he fired Wade Phillips in 2010, Jerry only had to pay him for a year and some change. He famously wouldn’t fire Big Mac after that embarrassing playoff loss in Jan 2024 because he had one year left and JJ didn’t want to pay him.

CP’s contract terms were not disclosed but he’s on at least a two year deal. I contend JJ may be willing to eat that. But…then hire the 6th DC in 6 seasons?

So there’s that.

Secondly, then what? Who’s Jerry going to hire in October that makes this Titanic of Jerry’s own design any better? Lipstick on a pig? New paint job of the Titanic? This is a very young and inexperienced coaching staff and who on that staff can make this mess any better?

This team is clearly teetering on looking completely lost…again.

And the person most to blame is the guy that obviously still thinks 500 guys could coach this team. He continues to hire HCs like Chan Gailey, Dave Campo, Jason Garrett and now Brian Schottenheimer who were neither ready for the job nor in high demand by other teams. No surprise we are where we are.

Whatever frustration, anger and finger pointing fans want to do, make sure it starts in the owner’s box. Because America’s team is being run by the oldest GM in sports history, supported by his unqualified children. And we are supposed to think he knows what he’s doing outside of business and marketing when we have decades of team building failure receipts.

Again point the finger first at the owner’s box. That’s where all this mess starts.
Schotty is likely among the lowest-paid head coaches in the league. His contract is not really gonna be an issue here.

While I agree on most and continue to remain aligned with you old friend I believe if things get bad enough we will see some coaching changes after the season despite years remaining on contracts.

Jethro is always looking for scapegoats . But it depends how far this thing collapses. Unfortunately though there’s no one in place to take over midseason.

Jerry has been around football his entire life and even played at Arkansas so I cannot believe he's this inept. He's also had plenty of time to learn and he repeats the same mistakes over and over.

I don't get it but my patience has run out. If we don't hire a real head coach after this season I will not watch another game until we do. They aren't good for my health and I certainly don't enjoy watching them, win or lose.
He only played at Arkansas because he was born affluent and wealthy.

Welp Bob, to your point, who then eventually jerry would hire just a few months later in january? When the Titanic fully sinks? Better do it now then in Jan? a few months for someone even cheaper? How long do you think it will take jerry, seriously for it to get it through his thick skull that his time is over at least as a GM?

It's time for the old and played-out saying that some think is catchy to be posted. "It's just rearranging the chairs on the Titanic", or "this is obtuse". lmao....Jerry has nothing to worry about; the slow and gullible will be back every year. I wish I had a touch of the tards like some of these guys. "It's our year, baby"

Plenty of assistant's better than Schotty on other teams. IMHO. We'd be better or worse. But I'd say better and would love the change.

and what established coaches with skins on the wall want to deal with Jethro?

As long as he’s breathing, Jerry will be large and in charge. His skull is too think and his skin is too thin for him to ever admit fault or failure.

If he ever says anything is his fault it’s in the same discussion on why he fired the latest scapegoat. Accountability for himself and his son? Zero.

As long as Jerry is doing the hiring…The next coach of the Dallas Cowboys is someone no other team would hire.
