No one is trading for Claiborne.

Probably not, because of his paycheck this year, but he's actually the right kind of value to work into a trade that also includes picks like that. Talented athletically, young, needs a fresh start at a premium position. Not sure MIN needs a CB all that much, but he's not as bad a player as a press defender as everybody seems to think he is around here.

No point in trading Mo at this point. He has next to 0 value and only 1 year left (no one is picking up the option). Might as well just let him play the year out and pray he's at least some what productive. Trading a player at his all time lowest value is never a good idea.

5. #163 - DE Frank Clark

I think he's a scumbag, but he has once in a decade type measurables. Not going to find a player with a higher ceiling this late. A Hardy/Clark, Mincey/Lawrence rotation at DE is a hell of a turn around in one off-season.

I don't think you are using the word "decade" correctly.

He had a nice combine but come on

Teams do trade on potential. Zimmer could easily trust his staff to turn him around and unlock the talent in the kid. Mo has tons of talent but cannot for some reason put it together. He is just a bargaining piece and a smaller detail in the trade, but it is a situation I would think is somewhat realistic.

Thought we all heard of the Mo trade rumors a while back anyhow

Yes, best in a decade would be an exaggeration but his measurable(s) were better than I realized:

At the combine, for players over 260 pounds (he weighed 271), he was ranked:
Vert 2nd
3-cone 2nd
SS 1st

Frank Clark
Arm: 34-3/8"
Hand: 10-1/8"
Height: 6027
Weight: 271
40 Yrd Dash: 4.66
20 Yrd Dash: 2.63
10 Yrd Dash: 1.58
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 19
Vertical Jump: 38 1/2
Broad Jump: 09'10"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.05
3-Cone Drill: 7.08

There was a thread last month that reported there were teams calling about the availability of Claiborne. Whether Minnesota was one of those teams, I don't know. But Zimmer runs a heavy man scheme where Claiborne can play more to his strengths, and Minnesota was really high on Claiborne back in the 2012 draft.

Interesting trade.

No big deal, but it helps to use a basis for how to draft....otherwise we can kind of take whoever we want.
What rankings did you use.?
If you use the CBS or NFLDraftScout rankings, none of those players in the first 5 rounds are available

Gordon, Kendricks, Shaw, Clark...all gone before the pick. Shaw was the closest.
@xwalker has done some excellent work putting together mock drafts from various websites, and I used his thread as guide for where a player would likely be available. Slim chance that Gordon is there at #27, but there are draft pundits out there that see it happening. Kendricks has been going in the 2nd in several mocks. Clark is a wildcard.

He had the 2nd fastest short shuttle time for a DL in the past decade (only behind SEA's Bruce Irvin). His vertical, arm length, and 60 yard shuttle are all freakish. I've seen 40 times of 4.6-4.7 for him, which is really impressive @ 270. His SPARQ score put him in the 85th percentile, which makes my once in a decade statement a bit of a stretch. But he has elite athleticism.

Its not a 4th and Caliborne. Using the 60th plus 4th plus claiborne. I can see 60th plus a fourth or claiborne but not both.

Well yeah i assumed our second was in there should have been more clear. Nobody is giving a 2nd for Mo and a 4th lol.

Using the draft value chart, it costs 150 points to move from #60 to #45. Our 4th rounder alone (#121) wouldn't be enough to move up since it is only worth 52 points, leaving a difference of 98.

Claiborne is added to the deal to make up the 98 points, which is the equivalent to an early 4th rounder. I think we'd be lucky to get a 4th straight up for Claiborne, which puts that deal in our favor.

i am still amazed at how bad Mo turned out. I watched him a lot at LSU and I thought that I was just missing something. I wasn't. He was really that bad. Worst draft pick in team history considering his draft position and cost to move up.

Never mind the potential, why would any team trade for a barely adequate (so far) CB coming off two knee surgeries?

Not to mention that the player is on the final year of his contract and you run the risk of trading for a rental, even if he is any good. About the only way I see Dallas moving him is in a bust for a bust trade. Like swapping with the Jets for Dee Milliner.

If he can just line up and cover 1 receiver man to man he is OK; however, even in man teams would play tricks crossing up 2 receivers on the same side of the formation and Claiborne just can't process much of anything mentally despite how many time Scandrick yelled at him about what he should have done on the play.

We would be lucky to get a bag of Doritos and a 6 pack of Dr. Pepper for Mo at this point................not sure how much value he has in a trade, but if somebody wants us to pitch him in, I got no complaints.
