Andrew Thomas was worse as a rookie and is now an All Pro. OT's dont usually come in at the level of a guy like Slater. Especially guys drafted in the last quarter of the 1st. Very few boards around draft time had Smith going a round later. By the last two weeks of the draft he was a near unanimous 1st rounder. I understand you hated the pick, but be reasonable and let it go
Correct. Difference is he was a unanimous top 10/15 prospect who had a much higher pedigree.

I didn’t hate the pick at all just felt like we reached based off of where Tyler was slated on almost every board out there.

Maybe in March. As the draft approched almost everywhere had him as a 1st round pick. Im not going base my opinion on a player a year later based on where people had him ranked in March

Disagree. Here is a list of what the consensus rankings were averaged out from some if the top media scouts. Smith was not in the top 32.

You can also search the web and there’s another draft site that does a consensus board that pulls from like 50+ sites. Tyler was 46.

Correct, end of February. What changed in 1 month?

Do you think all 6 sources collectively moved Tyler to being a 1st round lock?
Are you kidding lol. A ton changes between February and April. Thats when coverage pics up and the media reviews more film and updates rankings

I’m gonna start a draft hot takes thread. I’ve got a lot of juicy ones for this draft that are sure to be unpopular

What we don’t know is how the Cowboys really feel about their corners. In both playoff games our secondary held up well with Diggs, Bland, and Isreal. They might think with the return of Brown/Lewis we will be ok at cornerback. I think middle linebacker is a sneaky need. LVE is a bad tackle away from his career being over. Clark needs lots of work on the mental end. Cox should probably move to safety and Barr is washed. The tight end position and running back positions are the deepest in the draft. The Cowboys are masters at developing tight ends in the later rounds. Although tight end might be the best player at 26 and Meyer is a young Witten on steroids.
Did we really play an explosive passing offense in the playoffs? Bucs struggled all season and the 49ers are more of a run first team. A good passing attack probably would have had more success. Muku might be our starting SS next season, where I think Bland is a better slot corner then on the outside. We know our depth is terrible, at worst we have to get better. Yes, you can make a case needing a linebacker, but that's not a high valued position, we need more of a 2 down type of backer who is strong against the run. I could see them drafting Sanders, but a lot has to be off the board in front of them.

The GOAT with two top 20 wideouts and Purdy was looking like Joe Cool with Deebo and Kittle before he played the Cowboys. I don’t think there were better passing teams in the NFC playoffs the Cowboys could have played. You don’t reach for the 5th or 6th best corner that is how we ended up with Bossman. I don’t know what the Cowboys will do at 26.

Corner is so deep, they may have 5 1st rd grades at the position and might be in a similar situation at 58 when they selected Joseph. I still believe it's the odds on favorite for 26.

Most likely position to actually get a 1st round talent IMO.

The #5 CB this year is going to be a stud.
