I've yet to watch the game, but how did they look GREAT and only score 10 pts.

Because they had a 94yrd drive and contolled the clock for 9mins on that drive. They also moved the ball at will on the gound and thru the air. The D was dominant as well. The score can be misleading, if each teams starters played the entire game it wouldn't have been close....

For one... a 94 yard drive that had numerous good runs and passes in it. Felix was thisclose to breaking a 94 yard TD run.

Another thing is on a different drive, they marched down the field smartly, with Ogletree catching a couple of passes that was perfect execution on his part. That drive should have ended up in a TD, but when Romo went deep for Ogletree, a defender got in his face and kept Tony from stepping up into the throw and so it was intercepted. With better protection, that probably was six points. On that drive, the offense looked good. Good protection for the most part and good run blocking.

So on those two back to back drives (INT drive first and then TD drive), it was easy to see how polished the offense is, how sharp Tony has been, how good the passing game will be and how good the running game will be. In short... they looked good.

Also, the first string defense did pretty well in keeping San Fran from moving the ball. They went 3 and out for a couple/three series in a row, and they were doing pretty good with pressuring the QB. Overall... the defense looked good.

So, when the offense and defense look good... you can come away from a preseason game feeling pretty good about where the team is. Also, the special teams started gelling last night.

I think that Romo really likes Ogletree and he was bound and determined to make the guy look good last night (which he did). I think he was going to go to Ogletree on that pass, regardless of who else was open. IMO, Tony was trying to get a TD for him and the pressure didn't allow him to step up and that killed the pass.

I don't know this for sure, which goes without saying... but in a preseason where Tony has looked sharp the entire time, he was just trying to help a guy he likes.

Don't forget too that Ogletree had his guys beat. If the defender wasn't in Tony's face and he could have stepped into the throw... I think we have a TD right there.

I wondered if it was on Romo or Ogletree. Appears to be Romo.

The point is you can't try to make those throws with pressure on you; at least that much. This isn't even a trend for Romo. It's his MO. Make a play every play. And it's not necessary anymore. Romo doesn't have to win the game for us.

I see this as still a maturity issue which includes experience.

Now don't take home I'm down on Romo. He's a very, very good QB. But until he stops with the gunslinging, he'll remain a very, very good QB and not a great one. He needs to protect the ball esp not throwing it up around the goal line. Those are game losers when you're in December with need games and the playoffs. It must be hard to know when you can make those patented Tony Romo plays and when you're about to just throw it up there. But he's got to eliminate more of those bad Tony plays.

When they weren't making mistakes to kill drives they looked unstoppable. They stopped themselves.

When you are going to run the ball that much you cannot have excessive penalties or make mistakes and turn the ball over. We still have undisciplined players.

I'm beginning to think they are going to have to pick out someone regardless who they are and bench them for stupid repeating mistakes. You can't cut someone like Flo but you can sit them long enough to get their and everyone else's attention. Or don't start them the next game after reviewing the film. Just a thought I doubt they do but someone needs to get some player's attention.

For the record. Ogletree was never open on the play Romo chucked up the ball for an INT. NEVER OPEN. :bang2:

Yeah, I think it was Romo too. I don't disagree with you here at all Jobber. He should have just eaten the ball or got outside the pocket and threw it out of bounds.

At least Romo feels like we do on that subject. I heard he said that he should have just taken the sack instead, so he's trying to mature with his decision making. That is a far cry from previous seasons when he pretty much had an attitude that INT's simply come with the playmaking territory.

Now it seems like he understands that he can still light up the scoreboard while limiting the balls that he throws up for grabs.

Here's to us kicking the rest of the NFC East in the arse!

If Romo throws that ball on the right sideline out in front... that was a TD. Open in the NFL doesn't mean the WR running alone. Sometimes it's only a little gap.

Ogletree was open.

Don't know what you were watching, but the WR was open if the ball was in the right place.

Romo shouldn't get a pass b/c of the rush. You don't attempt that throw with your pocket collapsing if you don't have time to step into it properly, and he didn't.

Yeah... A step or even a half-step on a DB in the NFL is open. It was really on the 49ers defense - great job pressuring Romo at the right time. He had to either pull back on the throw and risk a fumble on the hit, or let it go.

NO NO NO - he had JWit wide open 12 yads downfield for a 1st. He would not have needed to step into that 12 yard throw like he tried when he threw the pick. POOR DECISION MAKING

If Romo had poor decision making on that throw, then it's the about 1% of the time when he doesn't make a great decision. He almost always does the right thing. So in that case, I'll take it.

man this team is just stupid. i am watching the replay of the field goal and the two false start penalties. i caught myself yelling at the tv and reminding myself it is only preseason but seeing penalties like this is the reason why we have not won a playoff game in 13 years. this team has no focus. i still do not think we win no more then nine games this year.

on that second touchdown attempt Tony could of easily walked that one in, looking at the replay it is so evident...he should of. Sometimes he gets too caught up in what's going on with the receivers and tightends that he forgets to check his vision to his left and right, he was alone, one defender was like 6 feet away or so he wouldn't of caught him.

I really think that if it had been a real game, he would have run it in. I would have been upset if he had run it in and risked getting nailed just for a preseason game.

I'm glad he kept perspective.

Think what you want, man. If you think the team isn't any good and want to think bad about it... then have at it bro.

well what makes me mad is that i watched wade on the sideline with the look of he cannot believe that they had another false start penalty. it is his job to stop these crap penalties. until they stop these mental pentalties i am having a hard time thinking this team is a team that can win it all. i do not remember our super bowl teams of the nineties killing themselves with these same stupid before the snap penalties every game. i want to believe but i just cannot understand why i see this every year.

What would you have wanted Phillips to do on the sideline during the game?

It's no secret of Wade's attitude towards bad plays, he just stands there with this look, and then he says in his press conference that he will address those issues but never does...doen't matter I hope Wade enjoys his last year in Dallas.

I mean, I was just wondering if maybe he thinks Wade should bring a taser to the game and take care of whoever has a false start, like immediately.
