At 32 years old (at season's start) he'd be a fool, imho, to take even a 2 year deal, IF he can get a longer one somewhere. Yes I know players play longer than years ago, but you never know, if I'm him I'm taking less money per year in exchange for a long term deal...
Exactly, I would love to see a 3 year contract that gives this cap some flexibility without tapping into serious restructures with Cooper just yet, but that may be their only recourse if you truly intend to sign KJ.
Unless he is just highly motivated personally to come play for Jerry.

I think the plan is for Neal to play LB in the nickel package and Box safety the rest of the time

plenty for both of them to do

If we pick up Wright, I would assume that's the case. I didn't get that feeling, though, when we signed him. It appeared to me that we want him to play WLB in the base.

I also feel that Wilson showed that he deserves a shot of being the base strong safety. Not saying there shouldn't be competition because we need that at every position, but I don't think Neal was brought in just to be competition.

Without doing a restructure, we could afford close to $5 million this year on any deal we could give him, assuming we're not signing any more free agents and just need money for our draft picks.

I can see a restructure on DLaw to get Wright in under the cap. DLaw isnt going anywhere. The restructure they want to stay away from is Coop. If Gallup and Lamb break out in a big way this season, Coop is as good as release next off season with cap savings going to Gallup. Or they can restructure Coop next off season and resign Gallup. Either way DLaw is the contract to restructure to fit in Wright.

The Cowboys won't sign him.

This has been going on for days now. If the Cowboys wanted him then they would have already signed him. Usually when it takes this long to sign a player another team comes along and gets him.

How many time have we seen that exact situation happen?
You mean we are bidding against ourselves like always. It's a habit other teams use to let us set the lower.we bite every time. It's like Laurel and Harty.

If Dallas is looking at K.J. Wright as a potential Sean Lee replacement it's a good move. You can use him as a part-time player and injury replacement.

I just don't know how serious these "talks" between the team and Wright are; and I'm also skeptical if the Cowboys are indeed Wright's "dream team" as I've seen reported on some places on the internet.

Watch out! The 'Fish-heads' who think he's an 'insider' will come after you for daring to question claims with no supporting evidence. Be prepared.

No chance Wright will come here to be a part time player nor will what we pay him allow us to make him part time TBH

I think it’s mostly a smokescreen to make another team pay after the draft

Fish is saying speak with the kj Wright ,the scenario is not likely to happen
Could be a difference between contract numbers a guessing that cowboys may think they are ok at linebackers with jaylon LVE and Neal...

Seattle reporter reporting that they are still talking. But who knows, most likely agent manipulating Seattle/Dallas press to build up interest.

Oh, my God -- here he is, saying it'd be a dream come true, if he gets to become a Cowboy.
Now, lo and behold, here he is, being interviewed. I'd welcome him with open arms!

And to think I was all excited and fully prepared to roll out the red carpet for this guy -- of all the nerve! Well, I never . . . :muttley:
