I would think fan backlash after signing guys like Owens, PacMan, bringing back Brent, is the last thing Jerry is worried about.

To their credit though...Owens really did nothing wrong aside from being himself, Brent made a mistake....Pac-Man.....that one might be the closest comparison lol.

I wonder if the next domino is Carr renegotiating or being cut...

I don't know how he can be suspended 6 games since Doty has already ruled you cannot use the new policy on incidents that occured prior.
Frankly any suspension will get appealed and so far the NFL is losing just about every one of those.

I think our DL is just fine if it looks like this -

Hardy - Josh Brent - Crawford - DLaw

and the second string is this -

Mincey - Bishop - McClain - #2 Pick

More likely IMO

SDE: Mincey, Spencer/Selvie
3T: Crawford, McClain/Coleman
1T: Brent, Hayden/Bishop
RDE: Hardy, DLaw

Keep in mind Hardy likely suspended at least 4 games. So DLaw and Mincey are the day 1 starters.
Might get a rookie in but we pick LOW in round 2 and that guy may not be ready day 1 and with Hardy likely out early we should have 3 proven DEs in there.
One of Spencer/Selvie should be affordable.

Value in mock draft seems to be R1 CB, R2 RB.

you still want if he gets 6 games ?

Yes, as long as the contract is structured accordingly. If they gave him a 1 year deal with a guaranteed base salary and no signing bonus, then they don't have to pay him the weeks that he is suspended. If they give him a big signing bonus, then he gets that regardless of how many games he is suspended and would only miss 1/17 of the small base salary for each week suspended.

If they had Hardy starting in week 7 last season and into the playoff, they would likely have won the Green Bay game and possibly more.

Hardy won't cheap IMO. And much higher expectations than Melton had last year. We're talking about a top 3 pass rusher in the league. Very exciting news.

Yeah, I really don't know what kind of money Hardy can be had for. I said potentially relatively cheap but I have no idea. What I do know is, we won't have to break the bank for him like we would have for Suh. There were only two young, elite defensive players in free agency: Suh and Hardy. As expected, Suh commanded a historic contract and Hardy seemed to be a ghost because of off-field issues. But on the field and in the locker room, Hardy is one of the most beloved teammates and respected opponents while Suh is the complete opposite. I try not to put too much thought and feelings into players off the field issues because I look to these guys for entertainment, not moral and ethical inspiration. Domestic violence aside, you want a guy like Hardy on your team. Guys like him (and Rolando McClain) don't become available at 26 years old if not for some off the field stuff like this. If you can get them for somewhat cheap and in their prime of their careers, you have to do it.

I'd be a little surprised to see us bring back either Spencer or Selvie. I'd like Spencer back on maybe a one year deal, but I don't see it happening.
