Fish: What if it's Gibbs, not Bijan Robinson?

You can find a big bruiser plodder back anytime you want.

Jahmyr Gibbs types are hard to find.

We’re fortunate to have one right now with Pollard who is an elite runner but if he has another monster year do you really want to do a big deal with a 26 year old RB?
Pollard has not demonstrated that he’s an “elite runner”. He had a nice season as a change of pace back. He’s totally untested as a RB1.

You’re wrong.

Nearly the entire league has RBs in rotation of some type.

Zeke did nothing but get in Pollards way.

Only 15 RB's had more yards than Pollard last year. And his missed a game. Every week we were screaming for him to get the ball more. He could have easily handled 5-7 more carries a game. He had over 1000 yards averaging just 12 carries a game. Don't forget, he was 3rd in ypc among RB's. Imagine where yardage total could have been.

He only had 40 catches and I felt like that number should’ve doubled.

He’s so dangerous everytime he touches the football but Dallas was constantly cramming Zeke up the middle for 2 yards for whatever reason.

The NFL is all about big plays which is why I hope if they have to choose between Mayer and Gibbs they go with Gibbs. We need his electric play style on our team.

Mayer does nothing. If Mayer were drafted by a team in our division I wouldn’t even care.

And only one of those three backs had a potent passing game to keep it open.

I see that as a major difference. The Cowboys are set up with a good passing game to keep the offense open.
yeah for sure 5’9” 200+ Gibbs to hide behind this line coupled with pollard. holly cow to run with 5.0+ per carry on each. your looking at 2000 yard season for the running backs.

That’s one thing I am hoping to see now that Kellen is gone and Big Mike is calling plays. Involving the RB’s more in the passing game.

Matter of fact, if you did draft Gibbs. You could have packages where he and pollard are both on the field, easily. One stays in to block the other goes out on a pass route or even both guys go out on a pass route.

Let either one of them get the ball in space. Watch the magic happen.

Gibbs is awesome and he would be terrifying for defenses to try and deal with.

He could be a legit WR for us too I think just like Pollard.

We can find a grunt RB at anytime. This guy would replace Pollard after the season.

But…

People are sleeping on Achane and he can be had later.

If you’re blocking is good then Achane is going to get whatever is blocked and more and he’s just as explosive as Gibbs.
Achane is a state track and field champion. He's got Olympic level speed. Was number one in the nation in the 200 yard dash in 2019.

I think he could also move around and play WR.

Deuces dad is a key scout for the Cowboys. I fully expect them to find a way to take him late.

But he is limited. Very limited in pass protection and is better suited as your #3 and special teams guy. People compare him to Sproles, but I don’t believe Vaughn is as game changing as Sproles was.
Someone else was saying this, maybe it was you. But I also like Vaughn. He's going to be a pain in the arse for teams.

Shades of 1999 draft?

Going into that draft most had Ricky Williams as the clear cut number one RB. But then next thing you know there were rumors of another RB possibly going first. It was still a bit of a shock but the colts took Edgerrin James first.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Oh yeah! And then Ditka went full... uh... re...
He went there.

Gibbs is 5'11'', and 201 lbs.
5'11"?
How did this happen?
Where did this happen?
When did this happen?

I need an HST joint stat and I mean STAT.
With some uppers, downers, screamers... maybe some pure mescaline.
And a fly swatter! Definitely need a fly swatter.
Maybe one of those tiny tennis rackets that gets all electrifying and stuff...

Mayer
Robinson
Gibbs
Kincaid

If any of these guys are there at 26, I think you have to take them. Gibbs and Robinson are exceptional receivers and seeing 2 back sets with either paired with Pollard, or even one of them split out wide can bring nightmare mismatches against most linebackers and safeties. I think I've seen enough from both as runners and blockers to feel confident in them taking over Pollard's spot as lead back in 24, which saves a good chunk of change over the next several seasons. This isn't Zeke 2.0. We aren't picking #4 with Jalen Ramsey on the board. If you can find a gamebreaker at 26, it's foolish to pass them up.

Mayer looks like a generational player to me and I like what Kincaid brings to the table. Doubt Mayer makes it to 26, but I'd take him over the other three. Huge boost in the run game and adds an element over the middle that we haven't seen...well...in my lifetime that I recall. Cooks has the juice, CeeDee is great at all WR spots, Pollard can take it the distance on any play. Add a bully/freak athlete over the middle and this offense is set on all levels.

Lack of offensive playmakers led to our elimination against SF. It wasn't Dak, it wasn't the line, and it certainly wasn't the defense. Adding Cooks was a great start. Bringing Pollard back on board was a strong move. It makes a ton of sense to bring it home with some talented young blood, and then focus on the trenches.

I frankly don't see Bijan as a home run hitter. But Jamyr Gibbs is. With 4.3 he can take it all the way on every carry.
If by "home run" you mean a 40+ yard rush to the house ...those plays barely even exist in the NFL.

Evidence? Dallas didn't allow even one such play last season. Pollard had two for Dallas.

What you want is lots of doubles and triples. Bijan is a factory for such production. 99% of all the scouts put Bijan well ahead for a reason.
