Fishbits... **updated**

Is this going to be another "We are getting Roy Williams" situation, cause I don't think I can go through getting my hopes up again only to be dissapointed.

Oh, and I was going to go Julius Peppers, Jason Taylor and/or Terrel Suggs, since the Ravens and Suggs have been having contract issues since they want to pay him like a LB and he wants to get paid like an end.

How can anybody know the answer to that? There's no indication Carolina has any ideas of moving him or not keeping him. At least with RW there was action and/or interest from which to gain hope.

Actually there are rumors swirling around Julius Peppers. Cuz he's due for a new contract...and coming off a sub-par year. Carolina is questioning whether he's worth a Freeney-type contract.
FWIW....
PANTHERS SHOPPING PEPPERS?

Posted by Mike Florio on March 7, 2008, 2:36 p.m.
We’ve received several e-mails over the past couple of days regarding rumors that the Carolina Panthers are poised to trade defensive end Julius Peppers.
And so we’ve actually engaged in a little “real” journalism — and in some of our good, old-fashioned rumor mongering.
There are rumors in league circles that the Panthers are quietly shopping Peppers. He has a big cap number in 2007, and there’s a school of thought that the Panthers aren’t willing to pay him what it would take to keep him over the long haul, especially since the price tag could go up if/when the Ravens sign Terrell Suggs to a long-term deal.
But it takes two to do the trade tango, and we’ve yet to confirm that any of the other 31 teams have been approached about acquiring the No. 2 overall pick in the 2002 draft.
Peppers had only 2.5 sacks last season, down from 13.0 the year before. He had been expected to be in line for a Dwight Freeney-style deal with $30 million guaranteed and a $12 million per year average.
Agent Carl Carey tells PFT that he and Peppers have heard the rumors, but that they have no merit.
“We fully expect that Julius Peppers will be a Carolina Panther this football season,” Carey said.
At this point, there’s no concrete reason to believe otherwise. But unless and until Peppers signs a new contract with the Panthers, the trade whispers will continue.

D-lineman who would just about die to be in Dallas? has to be a 3-4 guy since he qualified the other as a 4-3.

Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Chargers, Browns, Steelers, & 49ers would be the teams.

Best candidates...

Ty Warren, Patriots
Richard Seymour, Patriots
Jamal Williams, Chargers
Luis Castillo, Chargers
Casey Hampton, Steelers

Hampton ex longhorn is my guess.....

Oh yeah, and Hampton, an ex- longhorn. Man Im good!!!

i wanna know the 3-4 linemen he's talking about. where would peppers play in this defense?

Julius Peppers and Jason Taylor on the same front 7 as Ware. Wow.

Just WOW.

I don't know if Carolina is interested in moving JP per se, or if Dallas is actively pursuing him. All Fish has maintained is that the guy would love to play here.

I choose to put some stock into it because Mike is a friend and I believe he has a line on these things. That said, it's highly doubtful anything comes of it. But that is the guy he was alluding to a while back.

Pepper's would be a nice pick up for a dream team madden type deal. But realistically where would he fit. Sure straight up he is a better player then Ellis, but with Greg coming off a career year and costing a fraction of what Peppers would it wouldn't be prudent for the team. Isn't he a little small for a 3-4 end? I don't see where he could play.

Peppers weighs about as much as Hatcher, as tall as Canty and is as fast as Carpenter. Peppers actually has better hands for the INT than Carpenter, or any of the LBs on the Dallas squad.

If Elllis can play OLB, so can Peppers.

I can actually see him lining up at multiple positions. He and Ware are verstatile like that.

Right, that was my point, with Ware being irreplaceable and Ellis having a lot better year then Peppers last season for less money, why would you take either of them off the pitch. Putting Julius as a DE in a 3-4 isn't really utilizing his talents. Besides all that, I think another 3-4 would place more on the table for him then dallas. He would be a good fit with the Niners.

This seems like a whole lot of chatter for absolutely nothing to me.

The great thing about web rumors is that no one has to be accountable, so if (when) nothing comes of this, no one has to explain why they said what they said.
