1. Anthony Barr
2. Aaron Donald

He says when talking to people on the team and such you get a feeling these are the two guys they are targeting on who they think could be available and in this order.

The same efforts apply to players who Dallas values (though not as high as No. 16). It works for all positions, but among D-linemen circled names include tackles Dominique Easley and Timmy Jernigan and ends Demarcus Lawrence, Scott Crichton and Kony Ealy.

I fear Jerry thinks Barr is another Ware, and he still gloats about that pick versus Spears.

Donald is the better player right now. Barr is more of a project because he's never played defensive line in his life. He was recruited to play tailback at UCLA.

My feeling is that Barr will be our pick. Freakish athlete, fits the approximate size of a DE that Marinelli and Kiffin would like. We also went after center last year after going thru 6 different centers due to injury. It signals to me that we will try and address positions where there were rampant injuries the year before. Here's how I picked them since 2002. My picks are in parantheses:

2002: Roy Williams (Roy Williams)
2003: Terence Newman (Terence Newman)
2004: Trade down to 2nd round (Steven Jackson)
2005: DeMarcus Ware & Marcus Spears (DeMarcus Ware & Marcus Spears)
2006: Bobby Carpenter (Bobby Carpenter)
2007: Anthony Spencer (Anthony Spencer)
2008: Felix Jones & Mike Jenkins (Dominique Rogers-Cromartie & Felix Jones)
2009: no pick
2010: Dez Bryant (Dez Bryant)
2011: Tyron Smith (Tyron Smith)
2012: Morris Claiborne (Mark Barron)
2013: Travis Frederick (Eric Reid)

So my accuracy rate has been very good, although I've struggled a bit in the Jason Garrett era.

If either are there it is a huge win for us. Not much need to argue whose better imho.
Donald making it out of the top 10 is really unlikely. Making it past 14 would be a miracle.

Barr has a crazy high ceiling so does have that in common with Ware.

Barr and QB in round 2 would pretty much be the ideal blueprint for rebuilding.

Mayock on Dan Patrick today said Donald is slipping and if he doesn't go at 14 or to us at 16, he could fall to the mid 20s.

McShay just said a couple people have said Johnny Football is #1 on the board.

I hope you're right again! This draft needs to be all about defense either way.

That would be great if he is

I laugh when people talk about Barr being a project. You dont have the success he has had in the 2 yrs he;s played defense if youre a project. He dominated.

I'm sure the concern there is Barr against a good running attack.

He is still a project whether he dominated or not.

He moved from RB to OLB

If the cowboys draft him he will be moving to DE.

Does not mean he can not dominate.

Of course some people may have different meanings for project.

But I would say that anyone transitioning from one position to another position to another position in a matter of three years could easily be considered a project.

I think one will be there for us.

Likely Donald because he is a harder fit, whereas Barr fits both defenses

Melton was recruited to play tailback at Texas. Barr has played defense the last two years and has done very well. He certainly needs to improve, but all these players do that will be drafted tonight. I just have to trust in Rod to make the right call on defense.

If this were to happen, I would hope Dallas would do everything possible to move up. Can you imagine coming out of this draft with both Barr and Donald?

Other targets include Ward and Lattimer.

Very interesting. I figured as much re: Ward; and I knew we had interest in Lattimore but that high?!
