He has a back injury that is slow to heal especially for a tackle who puts tremendous stress on it every week. I have seen nothing that says it is chronic.

Maybe not chronic in the permanent sense - but it seems to be something that he might not recover from this season. He's had some form of the condition since August - and multiple weeks off don't seem to have helped very much.

Tyron Smith - He didn’t do much yesterday, they are hoping he can do more today. With Chaz Green not practicing again this week, they have been giving Emmett Cleary some work, but Garrett spent more time talking about other guys playing in different positions than he did about Cleary. If Smith isn’t able to go, it sounds like they may move Doug Free to the left side, slide Zack Martin to right tackle and insert, presumably, Joe Looney as right guard. Garrett made it clear that the offensive line has to be flexible and play different spots and combinations. This was particularly worrisome, there didn’t seem to be a lot of confidence in Smith’s ability to practice/play. Of course, that could change quickly but we won’t likely know if he’ll play until close to game time.

That does not sound good. We will need Smith as close to full strength as possible. I do not know squat about Cleary so my comfort level is 0 with him.

Bulging discs don't heal. They get aggravated on and off. They're nothing like herniated or ruptured discs, of course, but it's something he'll have to be wary of going forward.

Is a bulging disk something he will have to manage all year and probably have surgery on this off-season ?

Probably - Tyron Thursdays are fine by me, and the next 2 weeks of rest will help a lot !
