Absolutely, if the need falls close to the value that you're picking at. But, like I said if your sitting at your pick and your looking at an OT ranked as a top 15 player or a DE rated as a top 30 player, you take the OT (regardless of need). Needs (for the most part) should be addressed in FA. The draft is about value and building towards the future.
Ideally you trade back in that situation........like we did with TFred

Green wouldn't stop me from drafting an OT relatively high. Even if he has to sit a few years until his beard grows in.

Hopefully one of the DEs on the board does stop you...unless the very likely scenario of you falling in love with a CB happens. Then all best are off.

That's certainly one line of thought and in certain cases the right answer. However, I'm not a big fan of collecting more players of lesser talent.

Of course, as in the case of TFred, you have a player rated HIGHER than your current draft position and can pick up a pick plus get the guy you had targeted to begin with, it's a win/win. That rarely happens, though.
