On 105.3 at 7:30 pm Dallas time, Mike Fisher was interviewed by the boys on the radio. He had a few things to say.
On how Jerry goes into a negotiations with a player, does he speak first or last or what?
In the case of Hardy, Jerry isn't speaking at all. The negotiations is being done by Stephen. And while some say this is a get together just to get to know each other, this is a serious negotiations. The coaches did their due diligence on watching tape. The Jones have done theirs by waiting and allowing the market place to calm down.
On Hardy's possible suspension.
The press is saying 6 games, but Fisher is hearing four. Which also has a hand in what Hardy will ultimately get.
One Hardy being a bad guy.
There are a lot of bad guys who haven't been caught yet. Let's say you are following team X, you don't know who they are because they just haven't been caught.
On a follow up question - do you mean something about a guy throwing up the X and his team.
No, some random team. It could be the Arizona Diamondbacks.
On the cap.
Fisher said he laughs at ESPN who suggest the Cowboys cannot sign Hardy. They have moves they haven't done as yet.
Rework Carr frees up 8 million. Rework Romo and they can get up to another 12 million. Bernadeau would give them 1 million.
So they could rework Carr, and deal with Bernadeau and have 9 million without touching Romo.
But they could get 1 million, 4 million from Romo is needed.
On what could they do with that money?
They could get AP. AP has met with the coaches and management and didnb't wealk away yelling Whoopie. So he is still out there.
"Fisher's Opinion" - you could give up a first and pay AP 20 million over two years - which you could afford, and that would make you the odds on favorite to win the NFC next year. Hell, AP could be the MVP.
But this team is not hamstrung by money.
This is a recap, but I am pretty positive I offered the spirit of his comments, and in some places his exact quote. Especially about AP.
