A first for AP would be idiotic.

The 27th pick is so late to where it's almost like a 2nd round pick imo. I think that if nothing happens with AP around draft time, and both Gordon and Gurley are gone as well as the top CBs, the Cowboys will give up that pick for AP or trade down.

Especially if the trade includes swapping their 2nd rounders. It would be win-win for both teams.

This is the most poignant and true statement to myself. All of these holier than thou people- the ones you root for could be doing despicable things right this very second and not getting caught.
I lived in Austin when the Boys were there. I saw things man... Seen some things... Did some stuff...

But seriously. These guys aren't Eagle Scouts. Many of them are from challenging situations and lower class backgrounds andI don't mean that offensively.
Many of them have lived and been involved with worlds that middle class people don't often get to be intimately involved in.

Bad stuff happens in those environments. Environments that can carried along.
No agenda here. Not talking about anyone in particular. These are just truths.

The guy you are rooting for today and think is God's Gift can turn into a Cosby story in less than a second.
And even then who knows if anything said is true. That's the world.

Words of wisdom: Keep it low profile. Especially if you have things to lose.

Totally agree. I want the team to be constructed of as many good guys as possible, but we have no way to know if the guys who represent themselves as good guys publicly are, in fact, good guys. It's all a guessing game when you know these people no further than the TV screen allows.

Sports is a melting pot that allows for people of all different backgrounds to come together for a cause. As a result, you're going to have some people with questionable pasts in the mix. Throw in the salary cap of professional sports, and franchises are forced to turn over rocks to fill out their rosters. Yes, it'd be easy if Dallas could just keep the DeMarcus', DeMarco's and Witten's for the entirety of their careers and never look back. It just doesn't work that way all the time.

Last point, and I'll jump off the soap box: I still don't feel that comfortable with Brent being on the team, and deep down would rather not have to root on a player with Hardy's past. But if they are wearing the star, I'll be rooting for them on the field and hoping for their personal development off of it as well. I'm no judge, jury or executioner. All I can do is hope that through the organization providing a second chance to individuals on occasion, that those individuals can better themselves and become a better part of society.

The whirlwind around Dez in recent weeks is a good example of all this. He could be the nicest guy in the world who was framed, or he could have a heinous crime in his past. We have absolutely no way of knowing. But I'm encouraged by his personal development in recent years and feel like he's come a long way from the immature fella he was in 2011 -- regardless of whether or not that version of himself would have been capable of doing what some had accused.

If you think AP gets you to a SB. Would you trade a 1st rounder? Is a 1st rounder worth a SB?

I would trade the entire draft for a SB.:)

But the only reason you make a deal with AP right now, at his age, is if you think youre going to the SB. Making a SB run....

There are no guarantees, but you have to ....try. You have to take a risk.

He's basically saying that Peterson is the 1 piece away.

If we're able to land Hardy, it really does leave Peterson as the one remaining prize. Running back or no running back, we were going to be playing with smoke and mirrors defensively without a pass rush. Hardy is our get out of jail free card in that regard (wow, I realize how awful an analogy that is).

What's intriguing with Peterson is that our running game can be just fine without him. With him? It could be game over.

I definitely wouldn't give up a 1st. Primarily because of his age and limited shelf life we'd see. Sure, it'd be "worth" it if it resulted in a Super Bowl, but as you said there is no guarantee. And without a guarantee, it just doesn't seem like great business to me.

I'd be more willing to part with a late 2nd and even more so a late 3rd, but I still think it's generally bad business to give up high draft picks for veterans. A little research could prove me wrong, but it's just not a move that seems to work out that frequently.

If Demarco wasn't worth a 8m, Peterson is not worth 20m and a 1st, no way no how.

Murray, #27 and 2m >>>>>>>> Peterson

Yeah, and for the most part I agree. History has shown, that isnt the way to do business.

But there cases where it did work. AP behind this Oline, with Romo and Dez and Witten and the rest,.... Its just too good to pass up. I would a give a 1. Its a "late" 1.,,,,,
