Fisher: team made respectable offer to Schultz

I am glad there is no reason to pay mid tier WR money for a dynamically average TE. Schultz is a good route runner, good receiver, average at best blocker and average to below average YAC guy. 15m AAV is too much for the holes the team has to fill and the younger TEs on the roster, that have developed faster than Schultz did. Remember Schultz was bottom 1/3 of the roster his first 2 years, only reason he made the team was his "blocking" ability.

Schultz is trying to get $15+ mil/season. We all know it. The Cowboys probably offered him around $8 - $10 mil/season, but Schultz feels he can get much more via free agency.
..dont think he cares about winning. But more about the Apple pie.

It was probably in the 12 million a year range. I was a supporter of bringing Schultz back last year, I thought the franchise tag was a great option to show if he could deliver the same production. He was banged up towards the start of the year, but sans 2 games this year I saw a tier 2 tight end that was probably getting tier 1 money.

I like Schultz, I think he's underappreciated but also not worth the $$$ he was about to get.

Schultzy wants a good QB so he has a better chance at greatness.

It would be a bad financial move to extend Shultz, especially with this great TE draft class.
Agreed I don’t want to pay Shultz. Perfect player that you let test free agency and you get comp pick for him. There is like 8 legit tight ends in this draft we can probably get one with a 2nd round pick, third will be close. I am going to go ahead and say OBJ is coming unless someone over pays like the Giants.

Much rather roll with Tucker Kraft or Luke Musgrave

Can I get an explanation as to where the Schultz hate comes from?

I don’t think he’s a great TE or anything and can be replaced. He’s above average, but not impressive. But he’s been putting up good stats with a QB some people think is complete trash.

So what’s the deal? He’d be a pretty safe player to re-sign, although I’d prefer an upgrade, and one can be had in this TE loaded draft.

Who hates Schultz? He just won't be worth what some other team will pay him.

It’s his lack of blocking I believe

Ask yourself, do you want a "Respectable" salary, or do you want to get paid?
