It saves them over $8.5m in cap space this year, something the team really needs. They were only $300k under before this and Fitz was taking a lot of heat for being too selfish. He still gets his money, but it helps the team make some moves. Plus he got a no-trade clause.

What about Assante Samuel?

Samuel went to Philly because he wanted money, any player that wants to win and be in a good city should avoid Philly IMO.

This may be a bad thing.

I just ventured over to the Philly board to see them starting threads about Roy Williams.

One genious poster said and I quote.

"this deal means that roy wont stay with th loins, he cost to much money. money that we can afford. 1st round pick nd lito sheppard for roy williams is goin to get done!!1"

I can't imagine that they got him to sign that deal just so they could try and trade him to a team. He's still going to average 10 million a year and I'd imagine, at least this juncture, there are few teams who have the space to just take on a 10 million a year contract.

Well, that really sucks.

...........Moving onto Roy Williams.

Yeah, Roy really want to live in Pennsylvania.

The Eagles have about as much a shot at Roy as they do Moss.

Face it, no one wants to play there except the money grubbers.

Marinelli has already said Williams won't be traded.

Plus, the Eagles have nothing that Detroit would want. Their biggest chip (Lito) would be almost worthless to the Lions.

So unless they want to give up mad draft picks, they can say goodbye to Williams pipe dreams, too.

I'm sure he wants to play for a contender, which Philly is.

I'm sure after the Eagles heard about the Fitz deal, that they are ready to make another offer to the Lions.

'Contender'?

An 8-8 team that finshed at the bottom of its' division is a 'contender'?

Not anymore. That ship has sailed.

Maybe if they had gotten Fitzgerald they might have been.

Williams has said he'd prefer to play nearer to 'home' - which is Texas, not Philadelphia.

I can't see him agreeing to a contract extension to play in Philly.

Philly have missed their chance IMO...when they lost T.O. they lost their shot at winning.

That offer better be more than Lito Sheppard and Reggie Brown.

If they actually pulled a deal off, I doubt either player would be involved. Detroit would have no interest in them.
