Hamlins tag is over 4 mill

2.5 mill for Barber

Actually I looked and couldn't find a detailed breakdown like this. Thank you for providing it and being concerned about my research abilities. :D

Every time a player is signed, franchised, or tendered, it is discussed at length here. The contract figures and salary cap hit always comes up in the discussion so if you had been paying attention as these events unfolded, simple math would have told you that with each move the available cap space became lower. I guess you are one of these posters that just post uninformed opinions without really being up to speed with what is really going on. Thats fine, we now know where you're coming from, but don't take offense when you get corrected and shown where you are wrong.

What amazes me is that we have a salary cap guru and a sticky posted about this stuff and yet we get post like this.

It is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!

There is a sticky thread in the Daily Zone about the cap and it is broken down in there. So I guess you didn't search very well.

Fine. When I'm wrong, point it out. I can take it. I don't often take a stance like this one, so I'm willing to take that chance. I find it hilarious that so many posters screamed about Flozell during the season while all those mistakes were happening but now are so quick to forget them. Great! He's a talented LT but don't let me see you scream about his penalties in the upcoming season because I don't care how talented the pool is behind him, there is no chance of anyone taking his spot now .... just like Roy W. Once you pay that kind of money you have to play them to justify their contracts no matter how bad they are. Say whatever you want about McQ, Free, Marten or whomever. They will never get a chance now. That's fine if you all think I'm a football idiot because I don't like Flozell but it doesn't change my opinion about him or my team. I just hope Romo's 67million dollar backside doesn't get crippled because of him. This is the last I'll say about Flozell in any post so you can all take a breather. I just hope I'm wrong in this. :starspin

You are.

Actually, I'm afraid of a scenario much like that  . I know it won't be quite that drastic, but I do see Jerry and Stephen trading down a lot so that we have multiple 3rd and 4th round picks :puke: I know that I've made a lot of enemies about Flo but in my opinion, just because he is voted to the probowl does not make him a probowl caliber player (see Roy Williams and Larry Allen). Go ahead, tell me those 2 are great players for the last couple of years as well. I dare you. Flozell is NOT that great of a player and does NOT deserve the money we forked over for him. To all of Flozell's apologists, enjoy this upcoming season. He got paid and now there is no reason for him to work hard and I will cringe everytime Romo gets buried by Flozell's guy and shake my head every time he has a false start or a holding penalty ( and these will happen alot). Enjoy! :bang2:

Well, if you don't like the kind of money Flo got, don't blame Jerry. That is the going rate for most Left Tackles in the game. He probably might have gotten more if he would have hit the open market. How many FA left tackles are out there on the market today? Not too many because when you have a good one, you don't let them get away!!

Flo went against the best defensive ends of each team. He took on Osi Umenyura and Trent Cole twice and didn't give up sacks. The entire year our OL gave up 25 sacks. Our offense is more of a 5 and 7 step drop than a 3 step. So Romo was holding onto that ball longer.

You say he is going to be lazy after making the big contract. He signed a big contract about 4-5 years ago and he played even better than everyone expected. It actually was the start of him making Pro Bowls. I admit Flo is not perfect, but I will take the false starts, over him letting the DE get a blindside hit on our franchise QB. He gets a lot of those false starts because he is trying to get out of his stance as quick as possible to get into good position to block the speed rushers.

We got spoiled the last few years with all the big free agent signings we've had the last few years, with Fergy, Rivera, Henry and T.O. I think its good that we sign our own FA's for a change. At least we know what we are getting in terms of talent and they know the system already so there is no break in period.

We basically signed all the FA agents we wanted: Ken Hamlin, Flo Adams, Marion Barber, Chris Canty and some guy named Romo this year. Thats a pretty good crop if you ask me.
