Looking ahead, what is a realistic final win-loss record for the Cowboys?

Well let's be optimistic, shall we?

4-5 now. 7 games left.

Atlanta. Win, they've got problems won't catch the Saints for the division unless the Saints lose Brees, and he's very durable, not likely. Have two good running backs, good receiver, good line, good coach. 4 game lead with 7 to play. So, Atlanta may lose intensity (though they're playing the DALLAS COWBOYS. You know what that means if you're a long term Cowboys fan, 'nuff said.)
Commanders. Win, Dallas at home, 'skins o-line depleted. Alex Smith famous for late season swoons, as well as Reid.
Saints. Loss, Saints playing very well and I suspect Payton is still ticked at not getting the Dallas job.
Eagles. Loss. Beating a division rival twice is difficult if you're not that good. To expect Dallas to pull out wins in both games is unrealistic, imho.
Colts. Win. Luck doesn't run much, mobile quarterbacks are Dallas problem, and Colts running game isn't that good.
Bucs. Win. Bucs playing for draft picks, especially a quarterback, can't see a max effort.
Giants. Win. Ditto as for the Bucs, plus they're just not that good.

Gets us to, guess what? 8-8. Seen this before, that will be good enough for JJ to extend Garrett and Prescott.

Sorry "Garrett has to go, Dak has to be replaced" fans, ain't happening.

Of course this is all my opinion, the NFL is a funny (and maybe rigged) league, is screwy sometimes.

And even if by some chance Dallas gets in the playoffs, think they're beating the likes of the Saints, Rams or Panthers?

If we win out, 11-5. Since that is not likely, 9-7, 10-6. Those are even tough to get.

YA but... clapper sent his offense out with over a minute to play, backed up 9 yards in 3 plays and handed the ball right back to philly with 53 seconds and a short field..were just lucky Wentz and that team are so beat up and struggling, had this been Arron Rodgers..... BOOM game winning TD< and a go for 2 to win and Dallas lose's by 1. Clapper is a joke, ya but, he always will be a soft, coddling fool and a wussbag when it comes to stepping on a teams neck then grinding his boot heel. Ya but, I'm betting the little wussy still has his wife dress him for work. Not dragging us in the mire, but it was my hope we got the snot beat out of us and Clapper was at least closer to being dumped in the bag of has been's and wanna be head coaches.... now were stuck with his butt for another wait and see from JJ..

I was surprised that wussiness didn't cost the game at the end. Not only did they not call smart plays to potentially get the one first down needed, it was as if they were calling plays with a higher probability of failure. That 2nd down pass to the sideline was beyond stupid in the situation- so much that could go wrong there.
As soon as they're mathmatically eliminated from the playoffs, Garrett and Linehan should be fired. That mismanaged series alone is enough reason. It's like they're mentally challenged, literally.

No, I am not. I am arguing that the pick is already gone. It makes no difference to us now. If you want better draft position for Dallas, you should be rooting for the trade to be really bad, because that would mean we are picking higher in the second round. I wouldn't have traded any first round pick for Cooper, but that is me.

I can't even rationalize how you can think of this.

The Cowboys agreed to give the Raiders their first round pick no matter where it ends up. How can any fan of this team not care if it's the 10th pick or the 20th? This is the actual price you are paying for the player.

I think we will end up 10-6, other than the Saints, we just don’t really have any good teams left on our schedule.
Are you implying this team would not lose to a "non good" team?

It wasn't just like last night. The Cowboys didn't leave Philly with a TO, and Philly didn't only need a FG to win. You are trying to make what happened last night into a repeat of the Packers game, and it wasn't. Forcing Philly to use the timeouts was exactly what the Cowboys should have done last night.
Sigh...ok lets take your way, no TO's and 53 seconds with a SHORT field off a punt. NO I was NOT saying this game was just like the packers good grief, I was stating the OBVIOUS that clap and vanilla got damn lucky Wentz and party didn't go down, score on us and then break our backs with a 2 pt conversion, but you stay in whatever world your in there... I'm done trying to draw back the curtains on this mess known as the Dallas Cowboys. And just to add, WHAT they sould have done was go out and get a stinking FIRST down and END it. THAT's my damn point here.

Ahh so refreshing to see another fan GET's IT. Grief Omar has argued to the point of ridiculousness over that point right there...Kudos Alohawg!

I mean I care, I hate that Jerry traded away that pick regardless of where it is in the first round, but there is nothing I can do about it now. Its done. If you want better draft position for your team in April, root for the Raiders pick to be the highest it can be. The Raiders aren't in our division. Stop playing daft, Risen.

Ahhhh...forgot about the Skins, thanks for the correction. Hopefully we’ll beat a team with a winning record by the end of the season, I think the Skins will be that team.

Skins should have lost yesterday but Tampa does not play football once they hit the opponent 20. That was a comedy of errors - it just was not funny!

Reference: Cowboys win over JAX. If I see a 4-5 game win streak then I'll have some type of praise, but one win after getting beatdown most of the season, nah.

Good win, now do it again!
Nicely put.

You can deny all you want, but you are the one that tried to dispute me by bringing up the Packer game as an analogy. So, but it's in print - you did. In any case, would you rather have thrown a couple of incomplete passes and leave them with the same amount of time plus 2 timeouts to work with? It would have been truly stupid for Garrett to risk that.

Agreed. This win extends our winning streak to a season high...ONE. Win 3 of the next 4 and be competitive or BEAT the Saints, and I will get excited about the last month. Poop or get off the pot.... hate having to use G rated words....

....you can skip Go and collect $200, yet still wont be enough. ..........;)..

That’s what I’m implying, I think we lose to the Saints and maybe one other loss (perhaps rematch with Philthy) but that’s it.

Lol, yeah, I watched that game and the Skins are just lucky that Fitz played horrible and Tampa kept handkng them the ball, literally.

Agreed with everyone, how many times have we been here. Last week ready to fire everyone and now things take a 180 degree turn with a win. I'm happy with the win don't get me wrong...... however i want to see some consistency. No playoffs = garret and linehan gone. They aren't allowed anymore slip ups.... This team can't afford anymore poor games.

Even if we do go on a win streak, this team also can't afford any heartbreaking ends to the season. Again for garret its playoffs or no job.

You actually have them 9-7. My turn.

Atlanta. Loss. Consistency isn't JG's forte, and the Falcons were embarrassed yesterday. They'll be glad to be home.

Commanders. Win, Dallas at home, 'skins o-line depleted. Alex Smith famous for late season swoons, as well as Reid. - agree

Saints. Loss, Saints playing very well and I suspect Payton is still ticked at not getting the Dallas job. - agree with outcome, doubt Payton regrets having Brees all of these years

Eagles. Win. Eagles are not the same team and Wentz is adjusting to new coaches and coming off injury. They miss the assistants who bailed, and have a SB hangover. I still think Wentz will be good long term, but this isn't their year.

Colts. Loss. Luck is finally getting protection and Frank Reich knows the Cowboys well enough to beat Dallas at Indy.

Bucs. Win. Bucs playing for draft picks, especially a quarterback, can't see a max effort. - agree

Giants. Win. Ditto as for the Bucs, plus they're just not that good. - agree

And there you have it, 8-8. To me, that's the ceiling with 6-10 being the floor. Two of those projected wins could be losses and I would not be surprised.

I like your optimism, but the Cowboys have been much too inconsistent for me to share it. If they can beat the Falcons and Commanders I will start coming around a little more.

Here’s my take.
What if we beat the saints?
How would you feel after that?
I would stand in the corner and just stare for about a week. Someone would ask wants wrong and my wife would just say."Please don't ask"

Trust me, I’m not very optimistic at all although it seems that way. I know your feeling but looking at the rest of their schedule I just can’t see us losing more than one or two games.

As I said earlier, I don’t understand the fear of the Falcons. They have the worst defense in the league, we should beat them easily just by clock control. They won’t be able to stop us and our D may not be able to shut them down but they’ll get enough stops to give us the W. As a reminder, they have a llaing record, just got their butts handed to them by Cleveland and barely beat the one win Gnats. They’re not a good football team and we’re not great but we’re certainly better then them as a whole.
