For 2023 to be a success, the Cowboys must reach the NFCGC

Most are just happy to have a nice regular season.

This place specifically has reinforced that opinion ten fold for me

Very few here want real change. It's business as usual, just how they like it.
There’s not going to be any real change that most of us truly want until Jethro is tied to a bed or 6 feet under.

How can we demand more from this dysfunctional organization when winning championships isn’t the highest priority ?

It’s truly sad what this once proud and classy franchise has become .

State of the 2023 Dallas Cowboys: Heat is on Mike McCarthy, Dak Prescott to lead deep playoff run

Dallas is coming off a second straight playoff berth, but a loss at long-time nemesis San Francisco in the Divisional Round overshadowed strides made last season. Are the Cowboys ready to take that next step this season? Well, before we look forward, it's always important to take a look back.

2022 rewind

One high from last season: The Cowboys were actually good last year. And I know saying "actually" is kind of a low-key diss because I seemed surprised. But they were actually good. A lot of people also thought the Cowboys would lose in the opening round of the playoffs to the host Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady. Instead, they went out and smoked them, 31-14, in Brady's last game ever.

One low from last season: Ezekiel Elliott lining up at center for the final play of the game against the 49ers. You can close your eyes and picture it right now. It wasn't bad, in theory -- much like Crystal Pepsi wasn't bad, in theory. Actually, it was a bad idea.

Quarterback: Dak Prescott. I love Dak. I do. But he can be frustrating at times. He was absolutely brilliant against the Buccaneers in the playoffs, racking up five total touchdowns and 305 yards passing. The following week, Dak threw for just over 200 yards with one TD and two interceptions in the loss to the 49ers. Not that one should be expected to light up a defense like San Francisco's unit, but Dak needs to avoid mistakes like the picks, especially the one in the red zone to Fred Warner. That was exceptionally exasperating. Maybe the switch to Mike McCarthy as play-caller will give us a more consistently great Dak. We're about to find out.

You are a dreamer. If it’s not a SB appearance then it should be a house cleaning. They are what they are and that’s not changing. If the D isn’t top 2 then it’s just another lost year. Mismanagement from the top down doesn’t change. There’s always a chance but nothing has really changed except some new names for the rah rah homer crowd to throw under the bus when it falls apart.

Each year theyve been to the playoffs besides 2021 they shouldve gotten to the superbowl imo

2007 shouldve been a SB
2009 if they wouldve shown up vs the Vikes wouldve been a SB
2014 - this year speaks for itself
2016 shouldve gotten there if not for Aaron pulling a play out his butt
2018 - smh....
2022 - if dak plays average football we beat the 49ers and we beat the eagles
Sorry, but we didn't get to the Super Bowl because we weren't good enough. If we should have got there, we would have got there. Would have, should have, could have, isn't worth dog crap. I guess we'll disagree on this.

Your opinion is noted. I respect it. However, you did not answer the question.

Don't worry about it.

So let me get this straight ...........if we play the NFCCG and lose some of you will fire MM, let Dak walk and start over because we didn't get to the SB? Hell, SB is always the goal but to be one of the final teams standing but falling short is not an unsuccessful season, especially since it would be our first NFCCG in over 20 years.

Remember, OP said NFCCG THIS season or bust but it appears some are saying its SB or nothing.

Isn't the SB the goal every year, for every team? NFCCG is a great season but ultimately a failed year.

Exactly. No chance of a super bowl again until leather face becomes stardust.

Jeez this is depressing.

This is where we find ourselves: just reaching the NFC CG, even if we lose it, is a successful season.

Philly views last season as a failure...and they WON the NFC CG in crashing fashion.

But if we just MAKE it...and lose....SUCCESS!!!!!!!

Not that it matters.....we won't make it.
Agree. Depressing. Seems like we're still in the participation trophy era.

I vote to go 12-5 again but this time a wild card exit and yet just keep doing the same things the same way over and over and over...

Brag on the bottom line profits and being Forbes most valuable sports team for the umpteenth year in a row.

And heck, to be able to keep that regular season winning percentage pride going is impressive too.

Cowboys!

Yes sireeeeee. The bottom line for success in the NFC Championship game, and if we don't make it, then.....then......

Jerry raises ticket, parking and concession prices again, we have to subscribe to who knows how many subscription services to watch the games. Jerry institutes a new policy that fans leaving the stadium will be picked up by the ankles and have any money that they have left shaken out of their pockets......

...... and we take it for the 29h year in a row.

Well we dont know anything about this years team yet, will it be better or worse, with or without key injuries etc. But looking at last years team the game against Tampa Bay was a gift, Tampa was one of the worst teams to ever play in the post season so anyone using that game as a measuring stick for this year is going to come up way short.

Well, we don't want to put undue pressure on Mr. Dak Prescott....would we?
This'll be only be his 8th year....give him some time.
