Mort was just on 103.3 talking about this. Pretty interesting.

He said the flow of information has slowed down a lot, so he doesn't have any good info on what the punishment might be, though he himself thought Goodell should at least yank one of those first round picks.

But he said he'd heard a LOT more about this kind of thing in the past that he couldn't go public with, mainly because he didn't have enough corroborating sources, etc. He said Belichick had a file on every team that he's accumulated over the years -- every coordinator they might go against -- and that they *were* using microphones on the players to get the audibles and sync them with what they saw on tape.

Also said that Mangini probably knew what was going on when he was with the Pats, but that he wouldn't have been a main culprit in it. The main guy Belichick did this with was some guy whose name I've never heard -- not a coach, but a guy who's good friends with Belichick and has some kind of nebulous front office research-type title.

But he said it's incredible how arrogant Belichick was about doing this in the very first game after Goodell warned teams not to do this. He even said that the cameraman could have been a red herring to take attention away from the even more serious issue of possibly stealing radio signals.

He also pointed out how the Dolphins beat the Pats 9-0 last year, and Zac Thomas almost let it slip that the Dolphins had been doing something similar. As Mort said, who was their coach? Nick Saban, one of Belichick's best buddies.

Mort sounded like this was very serious to the league and he said that if you're going to give Wade Wilson five games for what he did, you need to be harsh on Mumbles, too.

This isn't about the freaking Jets game...if they are doing it in one game, they probably do it in ALL OF THEM.

The fact you don't get that doesn't surprise me.

Haha ! I don't even read what HH posts anymore. He does have all the answers tho. He'll be the first 1 to set you straight BZ.

You are assuming that it was the first time they taped thier signals. Who says they havent done it a few times prior to Sunday and have put together a pretty long list of what the signals are?

If it didn't help they wouldn't do it.

That is the way I have been viewing this. If it does not help you - why bother filming it all then?

It makes no sense. The only formula I can see is that it DOES aid the team doing the filming.

Mumbles is going to get it good from Goodell. You just wait. There is far to much public outcry for him not to punish NE severely.

This is not going to just go under the rug and the Commish knows it.

I remember that about the audio with the Dolphins last year. As I recall the story was largerly overlooked after an explanation was given but I can't remember the explanation. Saban of course was Belichik's DC in Cleveland so maybe they had an agreement to let it go since they both knew the other was doing it.

And they frequently beat teams by a wide margin. It isnt about getting anything, it's about knowing when to let something go. The Patriots are going to beat most teams regardless, because they are REALLY good.

The bottom line is, if taping really gave a team such a huge advantage, there would be a MUCH larger uproar. Remember when the NBA ref said he was fixing games last month? THAT is something worth getting upet over.

Looks like we have a new add to the HH list of ridiculous:

This may knock the 30 yard slant and Jim Brown not being a top ten RB down the list.

No one wants to criticize a prestige organization/coach like the golden perfect Patriots and Billy Bell.

People are willing to make excuses to why it didn't matter, they were more talented and a better organization, that's why the cheating didn't matter and that it couldn't help them anyways.

Why would you record them if it's not going to help you, it's meaningless to break the rules if it's not going to help you get an advantage.

I will say this right now, if we both play Madden, and you tell me what you are going to run, I guarantee you a win by me. :)

Really? For the most part, Belicheck is one fo the most despised figures in all of sports. He is smug, arrogant, and an overall douchebag. People typically jump at the chance to knock him down from his high horse

He must have started cheating after Bledsoe went down, because Drew didn't appear to have any advantage against an opposing team's defense.

In typical bz fashion, you have completely veared off course and are no longer discussing anything of substance

Just because you are getting your knickers in a twist over something that really isnt that big of a deal doesnt mean I have to.

Off course?

I'd say showing your complete lack of understanding football to disprove you point is very on topic...then again, it's pretty common knowledge that you don't know what the hell you are talking about, so it may have been unnecessary.:lmao2:

Now everyone knows how the Pats can lose like a bazillion starters and still win. They know the plays!

I remember Aikman commenting on a game once on how amazing it was that the Pats could just plug someone in after their players would drop like flies and still win. Well, now he should know!

What have you done to disprove anything? You've thrown around a clearly biased opinion, using ifs and maybes to try and back it up, then try to disprove me on a topic that is purely opinion based by throwing out another opinion for which you don't agree with me on.

You're trying to disprove opinions using other opinions. There isnt a fact on this thread that shows that a clear advantage is gained from taping plays, especially when you consider many other teams likely do it as well and just havent gotton caught. Many players have even blown this off, publically, as no big deal. Pretty sure they understand it more than you or I, or anyone else on the board

You obviously haven't been watching ESPN.

Yes, but Schlereth definitely disagrees. I'm not a big fan of Schlereth, but he never has appeared to be a guy that just adores everything the Patriots do. And good for him.
