Oh good, I have been wondering when youtube would become a football talent evaluation tool.

It's about time. Head Couches everywhere rejoice.

Next, how well the player plays Madden. :madden:

Martellus Bennett is hardly the first immature player to land in the NFL and there's no guarantee if or when he will grow up and be a model professional.

But he's a Dallas Cowboy and become so by way of a premium draft choice, the team isn't about to trade him for anything less than a first and they aren't about to cut bait because of his lack of 24/7 focus.

'Tellus is the reserve behind one of the best players in the entire league, something a lot of talented players would struggle with after being full-time starters their entire football careers prior to the NFL.

I was more disappointed in Marty B last season than I was Roy Williams, but I'm not ready to give up on either. We have an outstanding offense regardless of how involved either player is in the passing game.

I hope both hunker down and just focus on making the plays that come their way.

It will be two cherries on top if it happens or status quo with other getting increased snaps if it doesn't.

I'm not fussed either way.

Jerry was an idiot for not trading this lazy immature idiot when he had the chance. I've been watching football a long time and I've never seen a player come off as IMMATURE as Bennett and go on to become a solid football player.

Uh, Ryan Leaf says, "Amen!"

I guess I don't see the problem with his outside interests. Every person on the team has outside interests. Golf, charitable organizations, wives, girlfriends, travel, etc. Many have twitter accts, facebook pages, etc. The people that they're chatting with aren't football fanatics and they prolly not gonna care how much film he watches, how much weight he squats, benches, or anything else football-related.

I get wanting more from Martellus, but thinking that any football player is going to live and breathe football 24-7 is unrealistic.

All players have outside interests such as golf and charitable organizations. Alot of players are on Twitter and Facebook that's not the issue it's how Bennett acts on these sites. Did you watch his blog I posted? When an athlete is part of a professional organization they have to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. You don't see players making video blogs because some fans don't like them. Every player has some haters it comes with the territory! What Bennett says can affect his team. Chad OchoCinco tweets and clowns around alot but he's an established star who makes plays on Sundays. If Bennett could figure out where to lineup and make some plays every Sunday his actions online wouldn't be much of an issue. If a player is making plays on Sunday no one cares what they do in their free time on Twitter or Youtube. If Romo beats the Giants in the 07 playoffs no one would have given a crap about his trip to Cabo or his relationship with Jessica Simpson. Anytime a player isn't getting it done on the field fans are going to be more critical of what they're doing off the field. In Bennett's immature mind he became a star the day he became a Dallas Cowboy. A player can get away with alot if they're making plays on Sunday. Landry use to tolerate alot from Hollywood Henderson when he was making plays back in the 70's but once he stopped making plays Landry stopped putting up with his self promoting antics. If Bennent thinks he's got a future as a comedian/rapper....GOOD LUCK! :laugh2: He needs to focus on things he has the talent for that put him in the position he's in.

I would hold up on the 'the team isn't going to trade him for anything less than a 1st' talk after hearing Jerry Jones most recent comments.

The team isn't happy that he can't be depended on to know his assignments every week so they can't include him in the game plan as much as they would want to. This is why he was the talk of Training Camp and then came out and flopped during the season.

He's immature and no one can deny this. He's also more talented physically than most NFL players and no one can deny this.

But this was the case for him in college as well and he never lived up to that potential. His first love isn't football. I don't even think football is in his top five.

He's never going to explode into some All Pro player so if a team comes looking to trade for him the Cowboys would be smart to look into the deal.

John Phillips has earned Romo's trust. I don't think this is the case for Marty B.

No one should hate him for anything either. He's just taking advantage of his situation and living his life. I think the fans who follow him in all of his ventures are also people who don't love football like most of us do.

Not a good deal

Link?

Jerry said it was an "immediate impact player" and a draft pick.

Chris Henry was not that.

I think Chris Henry could have been looked at as an immediate impact player because he had experience and he was an affective receiver in the redzone.

Plenty of people were saying much the same thing about Miles Austin last off-season following the release of Terrell Owens.

Even the coaches didn't trust Smiles enough to make him a starter over Patrick Crayton.

There's no telling what might happen with Martellus Bennett.

You shouldn't say he'll never be dependable just because he hasn't been to date.

A player can grow up and 'Tellus has a shining example in front of him named Jason Witten along with solid coaching.

And I shouldn't have said it'd take a 1st to pry M80 away from the team.

I don't know what it'd take to get Jerry to pull the trigger, but I do feel it'd be more than any team would now want to surrender.

So our yards per play when MB is on the field is our highest.

Low post count, non-Zone contributing nOoB. Nothing to see here. :laugh2:

Miles Austin exploded when given the chance to start this season.

Marty B was given half the season to show the team what he could be.

And nothing happened.

These two players have two different mind sets as well.

Plus the fact that Romo has trust in Miles. He doesn't trust Marty B.

Would Miles Austin have exploded if forced to start in his second season?

Smiles needed two season with the team before he became a contributor in '08 and had some of us thinking he could be a dependable role player.

And while I agree that Martellus Bennett's absence in the passing game was pitiful, at least he was solid as a run blocker. M80 also caught four touchdowns as a rookie and dominated in the pre-season seeing lots of working against second team defenses.

So it isn't a question of if he can play, IMO, we have seen flashes. It's whether or not 'Tellus can become focused and start closing in on his immense potential.

And I wish all of our players approached things the way Sky Miles does, but that's just wishful thinking.

I'm not happy with Marty B, I want him to grow up and be a pro, but I'm not ready to get a shovel and bury him yet.

The offense isn't dependent on Bennett, it can roll along fine whether he's on the field or on the pine.

Maybe the threat of losing snaps to John Phillips will light M80's fire.

Bennett can become such a weapon for us, I hate thinking the Anthony Fasano route is a possibility.

If some team offered a 2nd rounder, I'd trade him.

If what we saw this season is all the team can get from the guy, trade him. His role wasn't worth a 2nd rounder.

I said it during the trade rumors and I will say it again. If Dallas can get equal value, send him. No use in not getting the most out of a player in more than 1 way.

I hate picking on a dead guy, but what about his 6 TDs in the last 3 seasons made him a red zone threat?

Roy was far better this season by himself in what was considered a 'failed' season.

I'm not saying every pass he caught in the redzone was for a score. You have to remember Henry was having alot of off the field issues the past few seasons. He obviously had some talent for the Bengals to keep bringing him back. I'm certainly not saying I wanted Henry as part of a trade but he's the only player I can think of who the Bengals would have been willing to part with who could have stepped in and helped us immediately. Last season he caught only 12 passes but two of those were for scores.
