Don't give a whit for the feelings of our collective fanbase. Our fans are awful. I just want to win this game.

Our fan base is great dude, I dont know what the hell you are thinking..................1 playoff win in 17 seasons and the stadium is still sold out............go look at the stadiums for Miami, Tennessee, Texans, ect..............empty seats all over the place.

Cowboy fans represent...............half the dam stadium in San Diego was Cowboy fans, even Broaddus was talking about how great it was.

We buy $100 jerseys, we buy $12 beer, we buy $10 dome dogs, we pack training camp, we pack draft watch parties, we spend hours online on sites like this one talking Cowboys even in the freaking offseason, we know the bio of every player down to the practice squad, we endure finding news ways to lose games every year, we endure setting NFL records for futility every week, and we keep coming back for more.

Anybody that thinks that is not that greatest fan base in the word................doesnt know jack.

There are a lot of them, if that's the point you're making. We all knew that. Too many of them are embarrassingly entitled ninnies. I don't care how much they're willing to pay for hotdogs.

The Cowboys fanbase is comprised of a huge number of loyal fans (the ones you mentioned above) and a huge number of bandwagoner whiners.

Both types exist. What other team could have only 1 playoff win in 16 seasons and still have the enormous following that the Cowboys do? That's true loyalty.

But at the same time, I've heard some absurd bandwagoner, fairweather, ridiculous comments from some other, different Cowboys "fans" that truly make me think that they are indeed the worst in the league.

I actually don't care what the fanbase thinks, win or lose. Fans of the team, and especially on this forum, because you people are all I have to gauge fandom about means nothing to me...

But, what is pathetic.IMO, are fans that dog the hell out of the cowboys, call them names like losers, chokers, weak, dumb, pathetic, then...from the same mouth, "I hope I am wrong".

Fans like that that want to continually berate the Cowboys, over and over and over...but, if the team does accomplish something? They want to be first in line to enjoy the spoils of victory.

Screw the fanbase is what I say! What I want to see is if the Cowboys have the fortitude to go win a game that they really need. If they lose? (I expect that....) if they win, I will be surprised.

"The spoils of victory?" Please define this term for me. I faintly remember eons ago enjoying the spoils of victory and what it meant then. However, since the meaning of any type of victory now is more generic than the quality of yesterday, I'm a little out of step with what "spoils of victory" means today..

I'm going to throw something out there.

Critical fans are better fans than positive fans. Why, you ask? Because critical fans don't need to delude themselves about the team's chances to stay fans.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand go!

Being a Cowboys fan nowadays is kind of like a temporary insanity that turned out to be untreatable.

Here we are, two weeks after giving up an all-time NFL record of 40 first downs in one game, and being unable to get our offense working in the Superdome under perfect conditions, playing on the road in a freezing stadium with 25 mph winds against a team that has won four straight.

Oh well, Cowboys 30 Giants 27. :)

Every fan who spends large amounts of time posting on Cowboys websites, watching videos, etc are all true fans. I don't care if we *****, whine, moan or pump sunshine but we are all fans in different ways. But, to say someone only likes to complain and gripe isn't a real fan is hogwash or they wouldn't be posting here or some other site.

'Critical' and 'positive' aren't mutually exclusive. There are also plenty of negative fans who are perfectly capable of maintaining a sense of context. Constructive criticism is more valuable than delusion, any day of the week.

I hope nobody's saying anybody here is not a true Cowboys fan. I know I'm not. It's all about how people analyze what's wrong with the team and how they handle frustration and disappointment. It's not a fan card check. But it should be ok to mention that throwing yourself off a bridge over being 5-5 and a half game out of first is probably an overreaction.

I mean the positive-at-all-costs fans.

If you're never anything but positive and see no reason for negativity, you arent truly critical. To be truly critical, you must be open to any and all outcomes, even those that are negative.

I can agree with this. But also, thinking Dallas was going into New Orleans and beating the Saints who were coming off a loss- or even keeping the game close- was an overreaction in thinking the team is better than it is.

I'd agree with that, too. I can't imagine seeing anything in how we played good QBs prior to that Saints game that indicated we were going to go in there and win that game short of Tony outperforming Drew at home. And the chances of that happening were slim and none.

I guess he is referring to all of these 8-8 seasons when he references the "spoils of victory".

We are lucky in some respects. Think about it- especially as Thanksgiving approaches. We are lucky to have one of the truly bright offensive minds as our head coach and we have a GM that is really peaking right now. The man has hit his stride and is hitting on all cylinders as the team's GM.
