Don't give a whit for the feelings of our collective fanbase. Our fans are awful. I just want to win this game.

The Cowboys fanbase is comprised of a huge number of loyal fans (the ones you mentioned above) and a huge number of bandwagoner whiners.
Both types exist. What other team could have only 1 playoff win in 16 seasons and still have the enormous following that the Cowboys do? That's true loyalty.
But at the same time, I've heard some absurd bandwagoner, fairweather, ridiculous comments from some other, different Cowboys "fans" that truly make me think that they are indeed the worst in the league.
Zordy ole friend...do you agree with this...something I said earlier:
if Dallas wins this game, nobody should try to diminish the accomplishment as it will be a huge win.
Conversely, if Dallas loses this game, lets not hear that it was because of injuries, the weather, the officiating etc etc.

We are lucky in some respects. Think about it- especially as Thanksgiving approaches. We are lucky to have one of the truly bright offensive minds as our head coach and we have a GM that is really peaking right now. The man has hit his stride and is hitting on all cylinders as the team's GM.
Just look for instances of the use of words like "pathetic" or "disgusting" in general forum posts re a team that's lead it's division for almost the entire season and perhaps you'll understand better.
Give the moderator stuff a rest, though. I'm every bit as entitled to my opinion as you are and have no obligation to pretend we don't have some of the whiniest most entitled fans in the league. They are, as I said, awful.
I agree with this the fans of this franchise stink. The thing I will say though is I think it has a lot to do with the younger fans who have learned about the game in this era of video games, fantasy football, non stop 24/7 media coverage and the era of obscenely greedy owners.
I don't think it's the same game most of us in our mid 30's or later grew up watching where it was all about the game. We never used to hear about owners, get bombarded with scores from other games, have the screen filled with completely useless fantasy football stats and finally I think the broadcasters today are really poor and obsess over unimportant stuff....joe buck is the master of this.
I think all this has made everything different.
I fell in love with football like most did in a time when you watched maybe one nfl show on espn...like Monday night countdown or jaworski's Sunday morning show, back then all the media guys were respectful and talked about football. Now it's just tmz stuff.
Then on Sunday we would tune in on CBS or NBC and watch the pregame show and get sent to whatever the game in your area was....it made everything special....the games every week felt special....the broadcasts seemed completely different...the whole vibe was different. It didn't feel as corporate as it does now.
Just my two cents, I just feel everything has changed and not for the better....and yes while we are at it get off my lawn.....the games rarely feel special because everything is always promoted so much and they try to make everything this big event. The simple excitement of the actual games seems to have lost some energy.
It's not going to change and I understand that, but when most new fans are being introduced to the league in its current state with the gotcha reporters, fantasy stats, way way way way to many talking heads during the week, twitter and video games....well you will get some fans who are not really into it for the greatness of the sport.
Bad fan = observant fan around these parts.
I don't generally hear posters that have been critical of this team's inept management blaming fans for the Cowboys' shortcomings. I do hear ardent supports of this team's FO and coaching staff blaming fans for not being supportive of a team that has been run ineptly with few exceptions, for the better part of two decades.
Our big market, big tradition team has one of the worst playoff records in the last 16 years, and the GM of that team keeps blundering along and has not been fired, nor will he be fired in the foreseeable future. How can anybody that's unhappy with that be accused of being bad, spoiled whiny or "entitled"?
For the sake of the Garrett supporters we better win. They've already started their preemptive defense. I think there are at least 5 separate Garrett posts blaming Jerry. Surprised they haven't been merged.
If Garrett's fired, there will be little need for a defense. It'll be simply because she didn't win enough games given 3+ years, and there will be no getting around it. Nor should there be.
I think it's safe to say that Dallas has a good fanbase. Let's not pretend that at this point, there are a bunch of bandwagon fans hanging on. The franchise hasn't done a whole lot to keep casual fans interested.
Just because a fan takes in and reacts to the game differently than you do, doesn't make them better or worse as fans. I see a lot of stuff I both agree and disagree with on this forum every day, but none of it "defines" the entire fanbase.
We can agree there.
