..why not take a look at what they've actually accomplished this season?

Week1 Beat Miami in Atlanta 19-7. Gained 229 passing and 72 rushing. Gave up 176 passing and 82 yards rushing.

Week2 Beat Carolina in Atlanta 28-20. Gained 220 passing and 152 rushing. Gave up 308 passing and 144 rushing.

Week3 Lost 26 -10 at NE. Gained 199 passing and 59 rushing. Gave up 296 passing and 168 rushing.

Week4
Beat the 49ers in SF 38-10. Gained 329 passing and 148 rushing. Gave up 179 passing and 100 rushing.

Week5 Beat the Bears in Atlanta 21-14 Gained 185 passing and 68 rushing. Gave up 300 passing and 83 rushing.

They are 4-1. And 4-1 is 4-1. So that alone tells me they have a good shot to win.
But they have had the benefit of playing 3 of their first 5 at home While we've played three road games

Are we supposed to fear a team that's been out gained by thier opponents? By a team who defends the run as poorly as they do?

We have one opponent in common whom we played the week ater they did. We gained 170 yards more while Atlanta came up short over 70 yards.

Unlike the Falcons, we've out gained our opponents. Huge margins in our three wins and slight deficits in our two losses.

Cool stats, but I didn't need them to know that Atl isn't that good. They average like 3.2 ypc and their weapons other than Gonzalez just don't scare me.

And they had no business beating Chicago.

lol.

Roddy White is legit.

Back to back 1000 yard seasons. This season he already has 385 yards and 4 TDs. That's with a bye week. He's on pace for 1200 + yards and 13 TDs.

If he doesn't scare you, you must think our weapons in the passing game aren't anything, either...

We almost lost to KC.

I would be more afraid of Roddy White than T. Gonzalez

I don't know what to say much about their rush D. I haven't seen their games. Maybe the opponents got many of those yards in garbage time. But if not, their rush D ranges from average to very poor. Maybe Garrett can take advantage of that.

Garrett will still pass even if we average 20 ypc

At our level of incompetence, every team should scare us. By that same token, we could actually overcome our inept coaching staff and randomly beat or come close to beating almost any team on a given week.

Another person who thinks stats tell the whole story

Just go watch the games. Atlanta is a more disciplined team that doesnt self-destruct in critical situations. Their QB is playing better than ours. Most importantly, they do not have an inept head coach and offensive coordinator.

If Roddy White, Matt Ryan and Michael Turner don't scare you then I really don't know what to say other than your standards for what constitutes a dangerous offensive weapon are outrageously high.

I think we can beat every single team we play this season.

That being said, I'm done being super optimistic. This isn't 2007. We're a good team when we want to be, but I can also see us losing this game.

However I dont think Atlanta is better than us. I think we're about as even as you can get.

If Romo played the same type of game Ryan did on Sunday, Cowboyszone would be ripping him a new one.

With you presumably leading the mindless mob.

Sounds like Wades “4-2 is better than 3-3” wisdom.

That said, i think the Cowboys can win if they can overcome the 15 penalties they will commit, 4 turnovers and the bone-head playcalling.

Roddy White does indeed have 385 yards and 4 TD's this season, 210 yards and 2 of those touchdowns against San Francisco. Outside of that game he's on pace for 700 yards.

I mention this SPECIFICALLY for our own experiences. Terrell Owens got 213 yards and 1 touchdown against that same weak secondary last season. Outside of that, he was on pace for 895 yards.

Point is that Roddy's stats were hugely inflated by that one game against a secondary that has proven itself under Singletary to just lay down and play dead on the field. They allowed 121 yards to Tim Hightower, receiving yards!

You look at Roddy's numbers and they are good over the last few years. He averaged 14.5 per catch in 2007 and 15.7 per catch in 08.

This year? Outside of the aberration? 9.2 ypc.

He's good, but we've shut down good receivers too.

Do you really think we have anyone on this team tht can/will cover him? If he was the only receiver on the field he could beat our "secondary". By the time you add Roddy White I'll be happy if we hold them to less than 50 points.
I sat there watching that game and kept thinking, no one on our team is willing to play as hard as these two teams are playing, and not for 4 full quarters for sure. Maybe Jay Ratliff and D. Ware and Brookings are exceptions to this, but they can't do it alone.

I will be shocked (but delighted) if we even stay in this game w/ Atlanta...

So you're willing to forfeit the game. Interesting.

For all the hype over Atlanta, they're one game better than the Cowboys. If Dallas wins (which is entirely possible), both teams will be 4-2 and Dallas will hold the tie-break advantage. But even if this happens, there will still be *****ing and moaning after the game. Too many posters on here have higher standards for the Cowboys than they do the opposition, causing them to inflate the greatness of every other team while downplaying whatever the Cowboys accomplish.

They certainly don't scare me as much as they seem to scare some people but I just can't get over the feeling that Romo will lead the team to a go ahead score with 2-3 minutes to go only to watch Ryan march right down the field for the win. I just can't see our defense stopping then at the end of the game and I highly doubt we will blow them out big enough were we don't need the defense at the end.
