Parcells said himself yesterday that Ware is still 'raw'......Merriman is playing like a seasoned 10 year veteran in year #2. Merriman is a complete player, Ware isn't....at least at this point in his career.

So sorry this argument isn't valid....

Who said Merriman was playing like a 10 year seasoned veteran?

Was that Parcells, or was it ......you?

add Dwight Freeney to that Simeon Rice comparison about just running upfield for sacks. That's all he does too.

I'm getting tired of the Boy apologists making excuses for Ware. He's a very good player and pretty complete player but the fact is that Merriman is more of an impact player and is also a pretty good all-around player. Ware isn't getting to the QB and has gotten plenty of chances to rush.
However, I blame the coaches mostly because our track record is pretty consistent about being unable to develop passrushing talent.

who gives a crap about stopping the run! we have alot of guys to do that but none of them are elite at rushing the passer....thats what we need an elite passrusher...ware was supposed to do that! have you all forgot! and he is not elite! everyone was saying he would be before the start of the season!

Bill and Zim for two.

I don't feel we've proven much yet re the run. Ellis has made a pretty good transition, but he has to run stop in more space now. The front line has been effective but we haven't been challenged by Barber or Portis yet. I for one don't feel it's a given that teams can't run on us.

....thats what we need an elite passrusher...

Relax, Glymph is back. :)

He is not elite! He is not elite! He is not elite!

Is that to the tune of..it does not compute?

I like this one even better than "It's going to blow!"

You are TOOOOOO funny!

merriman has alot of respect and he is beating ware in tackles

He has 2 more tackles. So what. The tackle stat is inconsistent -- depends, I believe on the official scorekeeper at whatever stadium you played.

Merriman is having a big year so far -- of course, much of that came against the Raiders who couldn't block anyone

He's Not Elite Lyrics

Sung to the tune of "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt

img8792818.jpg

They said he could rush.

They said he could rush.
His moves were pure.
I saw a demon.
Of that I'm sure.

I smiled at him on draft day.
Tho he wasn't Merriman.
I wouldn't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause Tuna had a plan.

But he's not elite.
He's not elite.
He's not elite, it's true.

I saw his rush in the Texans crush,
And he didn't know what to do,
And he'll never be
LT II.

Yes, he hurt my eye,
As the year went by.
I could see from his game
that he was F!#?!$! lame,
And I don't want to see that again.
And the nightmare I saw will last 'till the
end.

He's not elite.
He's not elite, it's true.
I saw him tamed in
the Philly game.
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with Shawne.

La la la
la la la la la la

He's not elite.
He's not elite.
He's not elite, it's true.
There must be a fan with a smile on his face,
'Cause his team took Merriman.

But it's time to
face the facts.
Ware will never get the sacks.

I have been trying to stay out of these discussions since the season has started (I am more concerned with how my team does during the season). That being said, do you guys know that the Chargers had the #1 rushing defense last year? How can Merriman be weak against the run and the Chargers have the #1 rated rushing defense? Here's a clue, he is good against the run (he also has more tackles than Ware this season). Last year, the Chargers had 8 games against the top 11 rushing offenses (2 games each against the Broncos and Chiefs). Merriman also has an interception, but you guys claim that he is a liability in the passing game. You claim that Merriman is getting his stats against inferior opponents, but last year, the Chargers had the toughest schedule in the NFL. And that is with Merriman not starting the first 6 games. Ware is good, but if you want to talk about Merriman as being deficient, then you need to look elsewhere!

I would love to see Ware and some others get more sacks but overall I think the defense is doing a pretty good job. Both Ware and Ellis are being asked to do more than just rush the passer and thus far have done a pretty decent job of it. I think the sacks will come

Who gives a crap about Merriman?

He's not a Cowboy!

Forget about him.

I root for the team we put out on the field, and the players with stars on their helmets.

I have to say I agree. I have nothing aginst Merriman but I also like Ware and think he has a very bright future in Dallas.

I have no beef with Merriman.

I do have a beef with people that don't know when to let things go.

Yes, Merriman is a good player.

But Ware is too.

With Ware, were were able to also draft Spears. If we had drafted Merriman, it's likely Spears wouldn't have been around at 20.....or that's what I remember reading somewhere.

So many here just want to whine about how we shoulda drafted so and so...they don't know how to just root for the team on the field.

Well said......the 2005 draft is ancient history. Some just need to get over it and, as you said, "just root for the team on the field". ;)
