For those with All 22, was the oline really that bad in the running game?

Witten's blocking was awful, Collins didn't do much and neither did Frederick. Playcalling was to have Dez run go routes and try to beat them with Beasley underneath. Then we tried to beat them with Witten underneath. Problem was Dak is still learning to play the NFL game and didn't anticipate well. So instead of helping your 4th round rookie QB by trying to get Dez open underneath on plays, we said 'hack-phooey'and stuck with the gameplan (except going to Witten underneath). So you saw the Giants using a lot of 8 and 9 guys in the box against 7 blockers.

Once Garrett is fired, I figure I will realize what it feels like to be paroled from prison.

So the play calling that netted the "average" Demarco Murray over 1,800 yards in 2014 is to blame?
that's the way they called it this past Sunday.... and by the way, its the same coaching staff that can't win a game without Romo.

Maybe they weren't the intended running lanes, but the #4 overall pick should be able to find cut back lanes, and most importantly STAY PATIENT. I felt like Zeke was just slamming himself into a pile on a lot of his stuffed runs without even attempting to look for an alternative route.

He gets a pass from me due to the fact he was held out much of the preseason. With the relaxed practice rules, he did not get much live practice time behind this OL actually blocking.

I won't deny he made some bad decisions, but in a running scheme such as ours, he has to build chemistry and learn how to trust the blocks. It took Murray a couple of years and the staff realizing how he ran with a lead blocker, versus not.

It was one game against an outstanding interior, plus Vernon, who is a very good run defender.

All that has to happen now is to learn from it and understand that no, not every DL in the NFL is going to just succumb to our OL's quart of blood technique.

Zeke needed to be a little more patient.

There were holes, sometimes gaping, off tackle. He plowed forward into backs and *****.

There were also creases where Morris got skinny and some yards with a little patience.

He'll be fine, IMO.

Honestly I rewatched his runs and he was just getting piss poor blocking 90% of the time. His best blocked play was his TD.

This isn't really a Morris was more patient situation he actually just had much better blocking on his runs.

Plus Garrett has no idea how to run read option. Every time they try it looks like a circus.

Zeke came out of Urban Meyer's scheme. At OSU he had a massive talent advantage over most teams in the schedule and others were just victimized by his scheme which uses the QB as an equal running threat along with pace of plays.

It's silly to expect him to be a dominant player in a pro system. It ignores past performance and really just ties into blind fan allegiance to the team.

If you didn't notice, this season OSU has run for a gazillion yards with an entirely new RB cast. Using the same rationale as our front office did with Zeke, we should draft the Timmy Changs of the world or anyone coming out of a Mike Leach offense. Rookie stat records will fall!

I'm kind of with idgit on this one -- I think playcalling is an easy scapegoat. Execution is the problem. That doesn't excuse the coaching staff, in fact probably indicts them more (still can't get over the fact that ******* didn't even try to run out of bounds), but just pointing out that its this same predictable play calling that netted Murray 1,800+ yards.

Oh, BS. This isn't Monte Ball coming out of Wisconsin. This is Zeke. You're going to look really foolish come this Sunday, Zeke isn't getting held down for long, I promise you that.

Main culprits were Witt and Collins in the running game. Play call didn't help either. I would have tried more outside runs and even run few jet sweeps to Lucky to give the Gints DL one more thing to think about.
those would not have worked. zeke ran like a rookie, he will get better. he did not let his line get their assignments blocked. if you saw morris then you saw why a vet rb was better that day. the sky is not falling please give us a break, with this complaining nonsense

So, you are predicting outright, product of the system bust?

Just wanted to make sure.

What ever happened to a nice pitch play with these young guards and center pulling?

Giants Dline played really well. Snacks was able to stop Dallas double team in it's tracks. Hankins was pushing the center and guard into the back field regularly. Vernon and JPP did a great job holding the edge. Carl Banks said on Giants.com that the defense was able to cover the deep ball so well because the front 4 did such a great job. Giants didn't have to stack the box with safety help.
