Forget frugality, we need to get serious about the DE position

Chandler Jones is better then JPP IMO. Melvin Ingram may be as well. JPP is a solid DE, but he is better name then player since his accident . 8 sacks in the last 2 season

Arizona will retain Jones IMO.

And Ingram isn't a 4-3 DE.

No you don't overpay.

It's fine when you get into a winner take all situation and cant get near the QB, as long as you don't overpay for UFA.

Building through the draft is how to go, but REFUSING to supplement with UFA just because you deem them to be somewhat overpriced is just stupid.

Take O Vernon off NYG and put him into the Dallas rush rotation and things may be a bit different today.

Just saying STEPHEN....you don't draft as well as Green Bay to operate as they do. Add some free agents !!

We have drafted amazingly well on Offense but very average on D.Even if we draft a De in the late first down there is no guarantee or a great first season impact.

Top to bottom we are almost better at every position than Green Bay. They just have the ultimate difference maker.

We need a DE, backup QB and a TE. If we can get those filled in the draft we'll be doing good although I'd bet on free agency for at least one of those hires.

Won't be picking an impact rusher at the end of the round. Hopefully we can hold on to our personnel guys and they can find some more surprise guys.

First of all, thank you, Cowboys, for an unforgettable season! What guts & grit you showed in making an almost historic comeback. In the end, your defense was just out manned. We can't blame today's loss on the coaching staff. If a team has to rush more than four players in order to create any kind of sustained pass rush, they don't belong in the SB. We can't & we don't. We haven't drafted a DE in the 1st round in a decade. We've drafted two corners in the 1st round over the last 9 years. They do go hand in hand. Jerry Jones bares 100% of the blame-period. There's only one way to obtain young stud pass rushers--you draft them. We're still paying on the cap for overpriced free agents signed 5 years ago. Now, it's time to turn it around. We should be able to get either Alabama's Ryan Anderson or UCLA's Tak McKinley with the 28th pick. The edge rushers dry up pretty fast after that, so we need to get one then. I prefer Anderson. His video shows tremendously quick get off, & he's very strong for his size. The corner class is deep, so we should be able to get someone like Florida's Quincy Wilson, 6-1, 210, or LSU's Tre'Davious White, 5-11, 190 with the 60th pick. (I'd prefer Ohio State's Gareon Conley, 6-0, 195, but believe he will be gone by then). I know this is not the draft blog, but believe it appropriate due to the fact our lack of a pass rush & quality cover corners was the main reason we lost, since we allowed a team to drive the length of the field in 35 freaking seconds to beat us. We have a great young nucleus on offense, but now it's time to begin building a championship defense. Hear that, JERRY.

Wait, what happened to all those threads from folks trying to convince us this defense was actually ballin' out?
Now is not the time for that crap. Those guys played WAY over their heads, & had us in it to the end. THEY allowed our offense time to come back & tie the game. Still, Jerry needs to get over his crush on the offense, & get us some pass rushers.

I wouldn't be surprised if it worked out that way... DE in round 1 and CB in round 2.

I don't have an issue with our defense; they are who they are. I'm talking about the fans trying to prop them up as some legit or slept-on defense.

Chandler Jones is getting the tag. They have said so already.
Go get JPP

Yeah, I figured they would tag him: no brainer. JPP is a physical liability and most of you know that. The hand, the Groin, the lack of a brain. Dude is the scarecrow of the NFL. I don't want that numbskull in a Cowboys uni. He'll sign with the douchey Gspots anyway. Irvin is about as good as we can do, and he'll be over priced.

In the end you are a sum of your parts. Our defense can play with good teams with decent QBs, but we dont have the fire to stop an elite QB when it matters
